Ad Efx - West Coast Ad Efx RIPOFF Scams Employees Scams Consumers False Representing Spa Companies Dallas Texas

  • Reported By:
    Flower Mound Texas
  • Submitted:

    Fri, September 11, 2009

I worked for AD EFX for a few months in the Dallas Texas location.

I'm going to tell you what you need to know.

DO NOT BUY FROM THEM....

If your going to buy these brochures for these spa companies be sure to call the spa company on the spot and confirm any advertising claims the Ad efx rep has made.

As a former employee I can tell you that I witnessed first hand a "corporate trainer" false advertising. For example she would tell potential consumers that a 1hr massage was included even though it was actually a 20 minute massage. She would say that you had the option of having a wine or coctail during your therapy when it in fact was a soda or juice. Not all Ad Efx employees that I witnessed do this. But i did see this happen from different people on more than 1 occassion.

DO NOT WORK FOR THEM...

They scam just to get people in the door. They advertise false positions in places like craigslist.org. When you walk in the door they tell you the position has been filled but another position is open. They dont give you any real details. They tell you to come back in another time and be prepared to train. They MIGHT tell you that its not paid or might not. Ive seen both scenarios happen. You'll come in and before you know what is actually going on, your stuck in the car with one of the ad efx people watching them sell. You do not get paid for training. If you start working them. They tell you your an independent contracter and make u sign a paper each day of work. Yet they tell you to come in an hr or 2 before you even get to go out and actually start trying to make money. Then you have to come back for an hour and turn in your certificates (brochures) , checks/credit card slips etc etc. Also, lets say you get a couple bad checks, well they dont actually show u the documentation - they just deduct it from your paycheck.

Be prepared to put tons of wear and tear in your vehicle and not receive any reimburcement for gas because your an independent contracter. Maybe you can ride with a co-worker who will drop you off somewhere as you walk business to business, door to door, or work traffic flow (people in a mall) to try and sell. They may have you train people, which you do not get paid to do. You do not receive money to drive these people around, and you infact lose money because your trying to train andn work at same time and it will keep you from selling. However this is great for ad efx because they pay nothing to train new people since your doing it for them. As an independent contractor this just doesnt seem right.
This whole company is bulls**t, the way they do things is bullshit.

And remember, you are commission based you will not get a penny if you dont sell anything.

Important, they might not tell you until after you start working that the first 200 dollars you make for yourself goes into your "account" which you cant touch. They tell you that they will give it back to you when ever you leave the company. And that it will come in 10-14 days. It's been over a month since ive worked there and about 30 follow phone calls and I have yet to receive MY MONEY.

I dont know the sales laws but I know they dont teach you about them or give any kind of license. They will teach you to go into buildings clearly marked no solicitation. That is just an example.

These people have no real office or phone number, good luck trying to get a hold of anyone. They have no website.

What kind of company has no website, no clear way to contact them. I'll tell you what kind of company...a company who wants to scam and get paid and not be held responsible for anything.

JOKE JOKE..yes the last comment is so correct...the laws about selling on private property they have a ..must warn clause..in other words ..property owners must first find you and ask you to leave..only after this can they have you removed ...it is the only way adefx survives,,,and is the exact reason in the US that they have GATED COMMUNITIES to keep the flood of loser door to door sales people that sell everything...the only people who work in these industries..which include vacuum sales... etc is because they CANNOT get hired in any normal job...the main reasons are..cant get up for work b/c of partying/ or just stupidity ...so they get fired so much they can only get loser jobs that hire EVERYBODY b/c they cannot get a reference to save their lives...jobs like commissioned sales reps are companies that hire everyone to try them out you never know who is a good pitchman...the throw sh@#*!t at the wall see what sticks program of hiring staff...oh and people are such suckers [ one born every minute] that greed will determine what these people buy no matter what so companies that operate on the edge of the law....do. The biggest crime..why the I.R.S. and Revenue Canada buy their bullsh*t about taxes paid by employees or lack of them....

There are in fact laws against soliciting on private property. If there weren't laws against what Ad Efx trained us to do, then there'd be no need for me to be evading police officers and security guards on a daily basis. The company is bull crap. Deal with it and then get a new job.

I would like to respond to your comments by first cutting and pasting each one and then responding.

Comment: As a former employee I can tell you that I witnessed first hand a "corporate trainer" false advertising. But i did see this happen from different people on more than 1 occassion.

Response: I will admit I have seen this happen on occasion also. The best way to deal with this is to report it to the company as soon as possible as Ad Efx is interested in weeding out the reps that lie, as it is in their best interest to eliminate any misrepresentation on behalf of their clients.

Comment: DO NOT WORK FOR THEM...

They scam just to get people in the door. They advertise false positions in places like craigslist.org. When you walk in the door they tell you the position has been filled but another position is open. They dont give you any real details. Response: The positions we advertise on craigslist are not false. Craigslist would not let us post false ads. we tell everyone who comes in the door exactly what the job entails, at least i do. we do not tell ppl they are coming in for training after the first interview, we tell them whether or not they are being invited back for a second interview. You do get paid for training if you get the position. the training program is a two week program, not one day of watching someone sell for six hours. The purpose of the length of the second interview is to prepare the interviewee for all situations that may occur should they be accepted for the position, and to ensure they know how to handle questions should a potential customer ask as the training program happens in real time with real customers. As an independant contractor you are entitled to many benefits such as write offs on your taxes that you would not be entitled to as an employee. The purpose of coming in an hour or two prior to going out in the field to sell, is to arrange territory, train new reps, and to ensure that everyone has a positive before going out to promote for our clients. This way, the rep will sell more and therefore make more. the hour at the end of the night is to settle each rep up for their sales. once they are settled up they are free to go home. why you would hang around for an hour is beyond me. we do provide documentation for any bounced cheques or declined credit cards. only your commission is deducted from your paycheck.

Comment: Be prepared to put tons of wear and tear in your vehicle and not receive any reimburcement for gas because your an independent contracter. Maybe you can ride with a co-worker who will drop you off somewhere as you walk business to business, door to door, or work traffic flow (people in a mall) to try and sell. This whole company is bulls**t, the way they do things is bullshit.

And remember, you are commission based you will not get a penny if you dont sell anything.

Response: where you decide to drive to work is your decision. if you didn't collect gas money from the other reps you drove around, that's your fault. you are compensated very well for training in the form of an over ride. this means that every time your trainee makes a sale, you make money. i made over $1500 in overrides last week alone. as far as losing sales by training ppl. well that's just ridiculous because the best way to train ppl is by selling in front of them. and as for the commission thing, i guess you are right. If you don't sell you don't get paid, which really means if you don't work you don't get paid, because if you work all day the law of averages comes into play and it is impossible to not make great money consistently. if you didn't make great money, you weren't working. quit lying to yourself. Besides, commission is the best way to get paid. You're paid for exactly what you're worth. Obviously I'm worth alot and you're worth nothing.

Comment: Important, they might not tell you until after you start working that the first 200 dollars you make for yourself goes into your "account" which you cant touch. They tell you that they will give it back to you when ever you leave the company. And that it will come in 10-14 days. It's been over a month since ive worked there and about 30 follow phone calls and I have yet to receive MY MONEY.

Response: This account is set up to ensure that we never have to ask new reps for money up front to cover the $500-$1000 dollars in product we send them out with every day. also it ensures that if the rep takes a bounced cheque, the money never comes directly out of their pocket. As fart as the ten to fourteen day period to receive your final check for 200, well the branch manager was just wrong there. It all depends on how many pending checks you have taken in and then at least another two weeks to make sure the rep wasn't mis representing our clients which would result in refunds to the customer.

Comment: I dont know the sales laws but I know they dont teach you about them or give any kind of license.

Response: There are no laws that prevent us from conducting business in the way we do. each office has a license. there is no law against going into buildings marked no solicitation, and in fact, they tend to be less marketed and therefore the potential to make sales is higher. We have an office and phone number in each market we operate in. In fact, the office number for each market is printed on the back of every certificate we sell, along with our website.

I hope this rebuttal clears up any misunderstanding or misleading the original comment may have caused. The slanderous nature of this comment was obviously posted by someone who thought they had what it took to be successful in the highest paid industry in the world (direct sales) and found that they weren't worth the paper their independent contractors agreement was printed on. Now that doesn't mean she will never be successful. I'm sure there are many burger flipping positions she would excel at.

I am also an ex-employee of Ad Efx, Dallas, TX. What you are saying is true! You are an independent contractor (same as insurance agents), you do use your own vehicle (same as insurance agents), You do put up $200. deposit for equipment and product the company provides which includes a $1200. portable credit card machine. You may work all day and make nothing.(just like insurance agents) You are not paid for training. (just like insurance agents)
However I loved working for Ad Efx.

I was a single mom with no career background and 5 mouths to feed at home. I didn't know what to do. I got the training and opportunity to make a good living at Ad Efx. No one else would give me a chance. I made $1,000. my first week! In the 12 weeks I worked for Ad Efx, I made over $12,000. And I only worked about 5 hours a day! I loved it. The company, although quirky, had a great sales model (which very few large fortune 500 companies have). It was simple, fun and rewarding and I made more money than I ever did selling insurance!!
