Beware of Adair Electric. We were finishing our basement and we received a few quotes on the electrical work we wanted done on our basement. Brain came out to give us a quote. He seemed nice and we felt like he had good ideas. When he gave us the quote it was a few hundred dollars less than others. He said he was giving us a discount because jobs were getting hard to come by. We decided to give him a chance.

At first things were fine, but as the job continued we became very disappointed. They would leave for lunch and never return. They put the lights in odd places requiring them to move them twice. This was fine...it goes along with construction.

The problems started when they would leave and not come back for days. When they would tell us they were coming they wouldn't show up. Then they would come the next day with out telling us and if I didn't answer they would leave. They knew I had to take kids to school in the morning, but they wouldn't wait and then they would blame me. We ended up having to paint the basement in the dark because they left without hooking up the electricity and we couldn't get Brian to call us back.

Later when they were doing the phone lines they left without telling us and when I went to answer the phone later there was nothing but static. When we called we did not get a response for over a week.

When Brian finally sent out a guy to hook up the electricity and fix our phones he messed up our alarm because he was incompetent. He spent about 45 minutes here drilling golf ball sized holes in our finished and painted ceiling to try to find the wires behind the drywall and then informed us that he couldn't fix the phones because he was color blind.

After two more days Brian came back and when we told him that we were fed up with him, he got mad at us and told us that his guy was a liar and was not color blind. As if it were our problem.

Finally they got our phones fixed and we signed off on the job just to get them out of our house. As we were finishing the rest of the basement we found that when they were trying to fix our phones they pulled the alarm box out and when putting it back in he drilled it into the side of the drywall rather than into the stud. This cracked the entire piece of drywall all the way through.

We've also found that the accent lights that were supposed to highlight the walls for artwork, but actually highlight the windows and doorway, aren't working and the light switches are hot to the touch.

Due to some business travel and needing to get quotes on the drywall damage, we were unable to contact Brian until this week. My husband left him a message saying that we were not making the final payment until we could get quotes from competent contractors to fix the problems. Brian left us a message saying that we signed off on the job and he is not responsible for things that came up after that including the drywall.

Out of fairness he is willing to fix the accent lights that aren't working, but he doesn't care that his guys placed them in areas that didn't highlight anything. I also don't know if I want him fixing the lights when I really don't feel confident is his skills. I really don't want my house to burn down.

In all, there are so many electricians out there that would do a much better job. Even if you have to pay a little bit more it is worth it! Stay away from Adair Electric!

scheduling problem

#7REBUTTAL Owner of company

Mon, February 07, 2011

Adair Electric has been and continues to be in business with a great reputation. This report does not reflect in any way the nature of myself or Adair Electric.

Adair Electric is a small and personable company with dedication to its employees and clients. At the time of this job our assigned forman for the job was in and out of the hospital as his wife was expecting and the babys health was severe once born. We would schedule the work however these hospital leaves were unexpected. The rescheduling really upset the client. We are not used to a client being insistant on trimming a basement before it is painted anyway however we do try to accomidate needs to the best of our ability.

The job was completed long before carpet came, all panel, and light locations were talked about in depth, all locations were roughed in per aproved design and could have been relocated had they just mentioned it. Extra safety precautions were made in this job. Other bids came in without bidding a new service line ran all the way back to the meter. As I did my service calcs I was able to bid it in and give them a safer system for the same price as other bids.

Qwest internet is the cause of the phone problem. All jacks required a filter. The filter was not plugged in. The phone box was simply existing and we just added lines to it.

After completion the home owners did not reply to a final invoice which was reduced because of the scheduling issues. After 6 months of billing and calls they finally replied. We were worried they were trying to get something for nothing. They finally agreed to pay with a final walkthrough and lighting transformer replacement. I wish they would have posted a picture because the finished product looked great. Thier only valid complaint a light centered over the window that accents nothing but matches the spacing on the other side.

I fear in this situation the client just couldnt be satisfied though I personally apollogised, reduced the price because of scheduling problems and told him I held no hard feelings for him trying to not pay for parts or service.

I work for this company and I am furious about this report. We were on time and completed the job according to the clients requests.

There was an issue with the phone service, but after several hours of our time free of charge it was found to be a issue with qwest. The phone companies filters lights were placed per home owners specifications.

Cabinets were added after, and they were unhappy with the lay out we offered to move them, but they were unhappy that it would cost them. They were also unhappy that there new panel was not turned into their closet which we would have been glad to do but it did not meet code clearances.

We did the best we could in the given situation and our work is warrantied for a year after completion.

They were repeatedly billed and billed and we heard nothing from them until they were sent to collections, then this posting popped up. Thank you for reading both sides.
