Complaint Review: Adams Automotive & Transmissions

We took our 2002 Ford Focus to them in August, 2010 for an engine rebuild. Owner asked for half of the $2,000 bill up front which we paid - to make a long story short our car has been back in their shop 14 times since August due to several problems arising from the improper rebuild of the motor not limited to internal engine parts coming loose, massive oil leaks and noises. We finally decided not to return after trip 14. In those 4-5 months that they worked on our vehicle, we had use of it approximately 7 days in all. They are very manipulative in the way they word their ads on Craigslist and Merchant Circle Websites where I have also posted reviews on my experience. Since the posting of my negative review they have added numerous additional positive reviews in an effort to raise their star rating with that site, probably bogus as there was only 1 positive review before mine. They lash out at my written experience with their shop with slanderous personal statements. Their response to my initial BBB complaint was "Have their lawyer contact ours". All in all these guys are not professional, organized or appropriately staffed. The money you save going to this small shop is quickly diminished after you've taken the time and effort to make the return trips, have your vehicle towed additional times and just frustration in general.
