Complaint Review: Adaptive Ink

Adaptive Ink Net Loss Littleton, Colorado

  • Reported By:
    Jerry — Austin Texas USA

I have reported previously on Adaptive Ink. Im using the Adaptive
Ink Mini Pro Series CISS on a HP 8500A printer.

Initially I was concerned about the secretive nature of
Adaptive Ink. If you go to their web site you will find limited contact
information. I happened to find their phone number but they NEVER answer it.
They only respond to someone interested in making a purchase.

I tried the product with skepticism. Based on my second
report I was actually printing with it. It probably saved me a complete set of
ink cartridges. Of course the Mini Pro Series CISS and extra ink cost 2 times
more than a set of 940XL ink cartridges.

Things looked good until the yellow ink bladder sprung a leak
and yellow die ran all over my furniture and the floor.

The Mini Pro Series CISS is now of no use to me. I emailed
Adaptive Ink and they said they had a problem with bladders coming apart. They
said they would replace the unit. I offered to pay for the parts since I had it
for 5 months. No more response from Adaptive Ink. I wait 2 weeks and contact
them regarding their support. Nothing.

Overall, the purchase of the Adaptive Products has been a
significant loss. I would be far better off buying two or three more sets of HP
cartridges and know my furniture and floor would not be destroyed.

From the review of other products, there are better designed
products on the market. Also HP has gone out of their way to make printing far
more economical with the HP 8500A printers. Im impressed with the integrity of
HP and question if trying to cheat the system is appropriate for moderate
amounts of printing.

The integrity of Adaptive Ink is disappointing.

Adaptive Ink Customer Service

#2REBUTTAL Owner of company

Thu, January 12, 2012

Adaptive Ink is a small company with very limited resources. We design and sell Continuous Ink Supply Systems (CISS) for business-class inkjet printers all over the world. We also, as we have time, provide FREE information on our website through our FAQ and White Papers pages. A few customers have reported negatively about us regarding our lack of response to phone calls. What these few customers do not understand is that we cannot afford to have a technical support person available all hours to respond immediately to their calls. For this reason, and a few others, we now only allow messages to be left, while redirecting new and existing customer to our websites Contact Us page to leave question and concerns.

What we are not:

  • A replacement call center for general printer problems (i.e. paper jams, driver installs, etc.) unrelated to our products for Hewlett-Packard, Epson, Canon, Dell, and all the rest of.

  • A replacement call center for all printer manufacturers because of their lack of consumer printer support help.

  • A receptacle for unending sales calls wanting us to be their distributor of inks or other manufacturers CISSs.
What we are:

  • A business that designs continuous ink supply systems (CISS) that lower the cost of ink by greaterthan 75%.

  • A business that solves the many issues plaguing current continuous ink supply systems.

  • A business that provides additional FREE information (as it becomes available) about the line of printers we design our CISSs for.

  • A business that provides our products quickly with very simple installation and refilling.
What we DO to provide support for our new and existing customers:

  • We provide a website with an e-mail address for our New Customer questions about

    our products.

  • We provide a website with an e-mail address for our Existing Customer questions about issues with our products.

  • We provide an answer to your e-mailed question within 24 hours by email, and/or by a return phone call if necessary.
To our existing customers, we tried and we failed in our attempt to provide immediate phone support - for this we are sorry. We hope you can understand why we can no longer provide immediate phone support, and we hope you will continue to use the e-mail address we have provided for Existing Customers on our website.

To our new customers, we hope you will use our websites e-mail address for New Customers we have provided you as well. This is truly the most efficient way for us to respond to the hundreds of product questions, and the few product issues we receive weekly.

Jerry's states that the Mini-Pro Series CISS and extra ink costs 2 1/2 times more than a set of 940XL ink cartridges. This is completely false.

The facts about the HP 940XL ink cartridges for the HP 8000, 8500, and 8500a series printers:

  1. A set of HP 940XL ink cartridges on Amazon.com is around $100 for a set (look it up).

  2. A set of HP 940XL has a total volume of 97 mL (black 940XL = 49mL, each color 940XL = 16 mL).
The reality about the HP 940 XL ink cartridges:

  • At hundred dollars per set of HP 940XL cartridges with 97 mL of total ink volume, you are paying $1.03 cents per milliliter of ink.
The facts about our current Mini-Pro CISS:

  1. The current Mini-Pro is sold on our website for $63.73.

  2. The current Mini Pro has 240 mL of total ink volume.
The reality about our current Mini-Pro CISS:

  • At $63.73 for 240 mL of total ink volume, you are paying twenty-six cents per

milliliter of ink. That's your greater than 75% savings.
Our newly designed Mini-Pro CISS (as of Jan 2012):

  • Total ink volume of 500 mL for $99.95 (200 mL Black, 100 mL each color), or twenty-five

    cents per milliliter of ink.

  • New USA made high-quality ink bladders with automatic connector shutoff when the ink supply lines are disconnected for refilling.

  • A new transparent blotter box for better visibility of ink level monitoring.
Our integrity should not be measured by the personal attacks of the few (one), but by the hundreds and hundreds of satisfied customers we have and will continue to save thousands of dollars. We will always work to resolve our customer's issues that are related to our products.
