Complaint Review: ADT Alarm Services

ADT Alarm Services ripoff Misleading Contract Little Rock Nationwide

We purchased an ADT alarm system and paid extra for additional coverage. We signed an service agreement for ADT to provide monitoring for that address. We moved and called to terminate service. We were told to send a letter and everything would be OK.

We have received bills about every 6 months since. We have called and attempted to rectify the situation and been told that everything would be taken care of. Now, they say there is an early termination penalty, even though we signed an agreement to provide service only (or so we thought) and paid cash for additional hardware.

This is unfair and should be considered fraud.

Every year they try and raise me %5 and I have to call them back and say no

Have a similar contract with ADT. When we signed the contract, we expressly added that if we moved from this location the contract term was void. That way we didn't get stuck paying for something we didn't use. Also, another point to watch out for is that those companies that ADT took over from SBC and others, ADT has in their contract were they can raise the fees like %5+ a year. Every year they try and raise me %5 and I have to call them back and say no, you can't do that. My original contract isn't with ADT, you took it over, and it doesn't say anything about %5. They say sorry, it's in our computer, and the computer doesn't know the difference. Good try though. After a break-in 2 years ago, we are involved in a law suit aganist them.

read the first paragraph on the contract

If you would have taken the time to read the first paragraph on the contract. It states you are signing a 3 yr contract. Of course they are going to charge you a termination fee. If you buy a car and sign a contract for a 5 yr loan you can't quit paying after 3 yrs can you ??????
