ADT ALARM SYSTEMS CHARGED FOR ALARM SERVICES WHEN THE PERSON WAS NOT EVEN CONNECTED TO THE ALARM CO. AND THEN CHARGED HER TO BE HOOKED UP CONCORD, California
A schoolteacher has been paying (auto pay) for ADT ALARM services since 2006, and recently found out she was not even hooked up. When she called them they told her they will charge her for a person to come out and hook her up, but would not refund her money. $3,000 since 2006, and no protection. This company is immoral.

I think you must work for ADT. I notice you said you are not with ADT anymore! You should read the comments by the law officer. He has an earfull about the incompetance of ADT.

I also had a bad experience with ADT. I am now with Bay alarm company. They told me they check for a signal every month, and if they dont get one they call you. If they cant reach you they send you a succession of three letters.

I also have a story about ADT. My house was broken into, and the alarm was going off. I was at work, and my neighbor called me. ADT didnt even respond. I called them, and they gave me the run-a-round, so now I am with BAY alarm company. I am very happy with them, and the people are all great. Whenever I have a question they take their time with me, and explain everything.

Why would you pay an alarm company, and then have to monitor your alarm yourself. (HELLO)
- Because you would be TESTING your alarm to make sure it still works. Even if that takes you 5 minutes a month to do this, they would still be MONITORING it the remaining 43,195 minutes each month.
If you are saying that it was not hooked up, are you really saying you had someone install an alarm system and they didn't even test it to show you it worked? Or is your "it was not even hooked up" meaning that it was hooked up at some point, you saw it work and at some point during the last 6 years it became "unhooked" as if by magic?
By the way why would a person write in the 3rd person? If it involves you just come out and post that, not doing that makes one wonder what else you may not actually be saying. Or did you use the "School Teacher" to try and gain more sympathy?

I DON'T monitor my alarm myself...I TEST it to be sure all features and peripherals work....VIVINT does the monitoring.
Do you have a problem with your reading comprehension or are you just ignorant of how the alarm systems actually work?
Once again, if it's manmade, it can have failures and not be apparent....testing will help detect any such failures.
If you STILL don't get it, ask a middle schooler in your neighborhood.

however, anything manmade can fail. A sensor(s) can fail, the alarm transmitter can fail, hence the recommended monthly test. It takes 2-3 minutes and verifies everything is in working order.
I'm now with Vivint and they recommend the same thing.
You weren't really paying attention.

How often in the 6 years did this school teacher test the system with them, as recommended?
They recommend monthly testing.
Sorry, it took so long to uncover.
