Advanced Document Systems A Xerox Authorized Dealer sold me dreams of career, but supplied no support system and no training Seattle Washington
This was to be my first big executive job, and the beginning of my career. Boy, was I wrong, and in for a few suprises. The job started out salary and then progressively moved into all commission, which sounded ok, after all it is sales. But here's what happened:
I get a call from a company that says its Xerox, but in reality its a "xerox authorized dealer". I come in to like 5-6 interviews with the sales manager, and they hire me.
Now I am sent to the actual Xerox company and go through 4 weeks of client centered selling. This was awesome, the instructer was great, the co-workers were great, and I was making salary while I learned some awesome sales skills.
Now I return to my office pumped up and ready to go out and kill the competition, only to meet the sad reality that to be the next 6 months of my life.
The territory I am given is an hour to an hour and a half away from my office. I was given .33 a mile, up to $250 a month to cover this expense. My office was in downtown, so I had to pay $8 in parking each and every day I get to work. So now I am literally paying in gas and parking to start this job, no big deal, its my first career.
As I begin to learn to the business, I realize I have no support what so ever !! My sales manager is actually a business owner who buys and re sells from Xerox. I recieve no additional training. I am expected to simply struggle and figure it out, all while driving around putting miles on my car.
I start to ask for help and more training, I close a couple of deals, but nothing major. Now on a daily basis I am called in to my sales manager office and yelled at for not performing. When I ask for help or more training, he replies I'm too busy, figure it out. WOW Nice guy.
This basically goes on for months, no support in my sales efforts, repeated verbal assualts, not to mention threats of losing my job. Basically I was to bossed around, broken down, lose my confidence and owned my this sales manager. HA !!
Needless to say this did not last long. As I continued working my coworkers began to leave, one at a time, and I began to notice THIS IS NOT A CAREER, THIS IS A HELL.
Oh ya, I almost forgot, the sales manager a NEVER fires anyone, sound like job security right? NOPE, he will make your like miserable so you quit and he doesn't have to pay you unemployment.
Moral is, work for Xerox Direct, if you work for a dealership, its up to the manager (owner) how you get paid.
I recieved my monthly expense check on average 2 months late, put 12k miles on my car in 6 months, and constant verbal beatings.
You like getting kicked while your down? Go work for Advanced Document Systems. Actually want a career? Go elsewhere.
