On 30 July, 2009 I received the first of three unsolicited cosmetic products in the US mail. The packing slip indicated that my billing statement would show as DRI 8668972464LiftSP. I was suspicious and immediately started researching for credit card account charges. I discovered that American Safety Utility Corporation had made initial verification inquiry charge of $0.30 followed by three credits of ($0.30). On subsequent days charges appeared from AG Skin Care 800-5092105 $3.95, Clear Skin Plus 877-645-5352 GB $5.04, Capstardiet 914-368-2938 $6.01, and DRI 8668972464LiftSP 866-897-2464 MN $4.95. Today they made a verification inquiry from Paypal for $1.00, and a verification inquiry for Appleonline for $1.00.

I immediately cancelled this credit card and reported the company to the VISA fraud unit for follow up. I was informed by VISA that the charges were originating in Israel.

I checked with the American Safety Utility Corporation and was informed that their web site had been breached from a Russian ISP and their credit processing software had been fraudulently used to make a large number of fraudulent verification debits and credits to facilitate the subsequent scams under the AG Skin Care name.

I have never ordered products from AG Skin Care or any of the related cosmetic companies mentioned here.

AG Skin Care's web site now states the following: "Advanced Wellness Research, Inc.("AWR") is pleased to announce that Netalab, Inc. ("Netalab") has acquired AWR's consumer product marketing and sales business, which includes such brands as Pure Acai Berry Pro, Bright Teeth Whitening System, Colo Flush, Derm Acai, and Pure RezV Pro. Netalab will market and sell these products, and has agreed to process and serve AWR's existing customers."

Advanced Wellness Research is doing business under each of these names: AG Skin Care / Netalab / AWR.

This a very clever scam originating in Russia. They obtain your personal name, address and credit card information and then phish with small charges and recurring charges to determine if you are monitoring your credit card use. Apparently many people do not read their statements. After they have succeeded with small charges they will come back for the big sting and hit your account for hundreds or thousands of dollars in charges, sometimes funneling charges through Paypal to cover their trail.
