So you think that you are about to get the job of your dreams. You get a phone call from the receptionist Kalila saying you were one of the top qualified candidates chosen to come in for a interview. I posted my resume on CareerBuilder 5 minutes before I got the call, and was told to come in that same day, odd. Once you arrive, you see the other so-called top candidates that were chosen sitting there waiting for an interview as well. Then out comes a blonde MESS named Donata Jonofsky or her bald sidekick, total scumbag who tried picking up on me, to do your interview. There she tells you all of the GREAT things about her company and all of the growth opportunites that you have at Adavantage Marketing and that they work with Fortune 500 companies, paid training, base salary, etc. The interview was totally unprofessional and she talked about herself rather than asking me questions about my work history, which would happen in a Professional and real job interview. At the end of the interview, she tells you she is calling back the top candidates to come back for a 2nd interview. Two hours later I got a call and was invited back in for that 2nd interview, which is a whole day, meaning 11am to 7pm, WTF!? But she oddly has gotten you interested in the position after mentioning all of the perks, stock options, salary and paid training (again a lie.. its a commission ONLY position and there are NO stock options! or reinursment for milage..) and weighing out your options, you hesitantly accept. So the next day you show up and ,funny, a few of the same people from the day before are there too; they must have been "luckily" choosen as well. (Actually, they call back EVERYONE.. if you have a heart beat and speak english at least at 2nd grade level you will be invited back). Then you jump into someones car, which is a dump (and these guys are supposedly on their way to being "millionaires" in 6th months? please..) and they tell you that you are going to be doing marketing for AT&T, basically trying to make the brand sell you over. You drive to a neighborhood and park and begin walking around knocking on people's doors trying to sell AT&T's services... (if I wanted to sign up for SOLICITING, I would have joined the Girl Scouts or a Little League team.) After about an hour and realizing that this was a PYRAMID SCHEME and walking inside random houses (are they even allowed to do that??) I asked to be taken back to my vehicle and was denied, saying that I have already agreed to spend the whole day and that it wasn't a good time to leave because they were about to "make a sale". So I asked to sit in the car and wait because I didnt want to walk around a neighborhood with these JOKES! I was denied that as well. So I had one of my friends pick me up and save me from this BS position. The whole ordeal was a WASTE OF MY TIME! I felt like I had been kidnapped and help hostage! First off, I had to take a day off work, and I wasn't getting paid for this so-called whole day interview. I wasn't told that I was going to be a solicitor for a year, knocking on random people's doors trying to sell stuff. If Donata is a so-called "millionaire" look at her car and why is her office next to a strip club.. UPGRADE B***! So, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME if you get a phone call from them, do not get caught up in the scam and know that this is the most DECIEVING job I have EVER experienced. It was clearly residential DOOR 2 DOOR sales... I have a BS in Marketing and I felt like my education was diminished and underminded by these decieving individuals trying to make it seem like this was a REAL job and REAL company... If you have any common sense and respect for yourself, you will know to stay away.. run away I mean. Disgusted and Betrayed San Diego, California

I was seriously about to go to the second interview which was from 11-8 and I had to look up the company's address again, and I stumbled upon your article, and I was so glad I did. Thank you, so much; everything is true about the first interview. They said they were very impressed with me , and asked me to wear more comfortable shoes for the second interview, now I know why... because of all of the walking I would be doing. Again thank you, I would have been thouroughly pissed too because I just got my B.S. in Business, you saved me the trouble, I will spread the word about AMG as well. We all have to look out for eachother and stupid a*s schemes like that.

I worked for Donata for 3 months. She does over hype the business a bit but everything she talks about is possible. A leader in the office, Garrett, was just promoted to assistant manager back in June and is opening his office in 1 month.

ok so door to door sucks, but look at what you are selling. It sounds like a few of you just couldnt present the product correctly. I did quite well for awhile. Making myself $800-$1000 a week isnt that bad. You just have to know that its your job and its your money waiting for you.

However with any commission only job, there are ups and downs. I, unfortunatley, do not have the flexibility in my finances to have a bad week, so i opted for a salary job.

overall, not a bad place to work, office atmosphere is really fun, the long days are told to be a requirement. but if you are producing for donata. you can do whatever you want really. sh** i only worked 4 days a week realistically.

Whether it is Advantage Marketing or Modern Marketing in San Diego they both are doing the same thing. I confirm that everything this article mentions is 100% accurate. I put my resume on Career Builder and within a few hours was magically a top canidate. This is flatery. The 1st interview is promises of big dollars and quick upward mobility. They try to position it as being selective. More flatery. In actuality they will accept anyone. They position the 2nd interview as "a day in the life of...", it is an full unpaid day walking around in slum neighborhoods, knocking on doors, selling paper or long-distance (whatever bogus project they are contracted to do). They say "be on your best behavior, try to learn as much as possible, because the person you are going out with will have a major say whether your hired or not". I can't continue with this because i am disgusted...Just stay away, trust me!!!
