I have been looking for work and placing my resume at many site online. I came across one on the Utah jobs site for a sales position in Salt Lake County. I applied.

I have recieved many calls from companies, to recruiters trying to fill positions. I have had several interviews set up and did on phone interviews as a step to the actual interview.

One of the calls I received was from a Rolland Brown Jr. The call lasted less than 2 minutes and stated that the job was a salary plus commission base. I remembered the salary amount but not the actual applying online. He gave me an address, it was an address in Utah County, not Salt Lake County and stated that I should Mapquest it before coming and to be on time. Then he ended the call.

The call itself was very suspicious to me. As I have stated I have been receiving several calls from companies as well as recruiters and none had been this abrupt or this unprofessional in terms of what my qualifications are so I decided to do some research on Mr Brown and Advantage Recruting.

His website is 101 purchased from one of the many site builders you can get so it looks ok. However on his own site there are links that are to nowhere. I googled his name and found his FB page and other links of which some went to nowhere. After looking for sometime and coming to the conclusion that this is probably one of those Utah County Scams you hear about I but that it was still worth looking into seeing I am out of work.

At about 12 minutes before the time of the supposed interview I received a call from a number I had noticed before but because I was on the road driving to another county to be interviewed I could not answer. It webt to voice mail. Outside of Mr. Browns office I listened to the voice mail and tt was Mr. Brown leaving a 7 second voice mail saying, 'Bret, Rolland Brown with Advantage Recruiting, just wanted to confirm our appointment'. Then he hung up. It confirmed my suspicions that this is a scam. Even this message was abrupt and rude. Then at 10:02 as I was sitting there deciding if this is something I should be walking into or not I got an email from Mr. Brown stating the following:

V Bret Matheson-

Today you had a scheduled employment interview set-up that you missed and chose not to notify us in any way shape or form. After further examination we have determined you are not eligible to apply for employment through Advantage Recruiting.

It has been reported by your references that you’re past work ethic, performance, and reliability is substandard and would not represent Advantage Recruiting in the best light. We have reported your recent conduct to a consortium of HR professionals throughout the region and would hope you take your employment and employment search more serious in the future.

Sincerely,

Rolland E. Brown Jr.

Please reply to the sender that you have received this communication in error and immediately delete the document. Thank you.

So he threatens that I am being reported to other HR Professionals and that he did a background check. I did not sign anything allowing him to and do not want my current job contacted. He states that my past work ethic, performance and reliability are substandard and would not represent him or his company in the best light yet he was wanting me to come meet with him for a job. The email has 7 image files and is very good looking but not professional in the sense that with that many image files, most email addresses are going to shove it to spam.

Even though I was outside his door, I decided that Mr. Brown is too confrontational to be taken serious and people should be warned that this is likely a scam in my opinon.

STAY AWAY!

It's a scam to get him to write your Resume.  He wants $80 from you.    Just look at his lame website and videos.
