i live in a condo complex and STORED my boat at our community RV & Boat storage lot... approximately two years ago,

i went out to check on my boat and it was GONE. I figured it was stolen and didn't report it since i had NO INSURANCE... plus, i didn't recieve any notices of any kind. I figured, i was just OUT...

about a year ago or more (not 100% sure)...

while on HOLIDAY, i recieved an 'abandoned title notice' (arizona) say'n i had till SUCH date to sumbit x amount to the DMV or i'd lose my title... problem was... i was out of the country and returned after SAID date... i failed to respond, since the date had already passed by.

then just TODAY...

i get in the mail.. from AFFICIENT TOWING & RECOVERY

a letter stating i need to pay for IMPOUND and storage FEES for 2.years...

...

in two years i recieved just two documents about my boat...

1.  Arizona Abandoned Title notice

2.  PAYMENT / INVOICE from AFFICENT TOWING & RECOVERY... (for impound fees and two years of storage fees)

...

WOW... what a marketing ploy... take someones boat.. don't send NOTICE... (probably use the boat) then send BILL for 2.years worth of storage... (probably, after finding a NEW BOAT to use) ..

...

what am i to do?

"I figured it was stolen and didn't report it since i had NO INSURANCE."

Are you serious?   Didn't it occur to you that the cops might recover your stolen property and return it to you?   Something sounds fishy about this story.

Here's how it works.  If a towing company takes abandoned or illegally parked property, they must report it to the local police.    When you call the cops to report it stolen, they tell you who has it and you can get it back.   If you can't bother to pick up the phone, it'll be considered abandoned property.
