I called this character up and he swore he could fix my computer. I already knew it was the power supply and figured it cost effective to fix. I then took it in to his shop ( which is an old and dirty restaurant turned shabby shop ). First thing I was told 49 dollars for the diagnostics, I paid and left. A day later ( I thought pretty quick ) and I was told it was going to be over 350 dollars to fix. I now supposedly needed a power supply, a mother board chipset he said and also more memory - PLUS I had to pay the repair cost. What was the 49 for - I already knew it was broke. I more or less had no choice and went to pick it up. I told the owner I was not happy with the cost and he said he would cut me a deal if I paid cash. I thought a discount, but he told me he would not charge tax ( I am a small business owner and KNOW you must pay Sales Tax ) I ended up paying him 350 cash and he gave me a hand-written receipt. Lo and behold ( NO TAX ). I got the machine home and as soon as I turned the power on dust puffed out of the back power supply. The unit was not even new. I took it back and he told me more or less "Oh Well" you get what you pay for and then got his cohort to come up and more or less try to intimidate me. I then decided it best I leave, feeling actually threatened by a 6' black woman whom was not so nice either. I decided to post here to help others out and I also have reported this to the NJ State Tax board. I guess things do work out because I actually have friend who got the short end of the stick by him too and did NOT pay sales tax either. I am out my 350 for sure, but I can guarantee they State Sales Tax Board is pursuing this. We all pay taxes to support our local government - So why can this shyster think he can rip off customers and also rip off the State. I hope he has his ducks in a row when they come a knockin.

Unfounded Slander from Disgruntled (and Non-existent Customer)

I am presently employed at Affordable Computer Repair as the Senior Technician, and would like to take the time to debunk the false accusations that have been made from this individual.

Being that I am the senior technician, all work orders have to go by me as I have to make all necessary repairs. The above incident in question is completely made up. As I do work on numerous PC's, especially e-machines, I have never made such repairs at said cost. Having been performing repairs, and received formal training in the field, it is impossible for such a misdiagnosis to occur. Our diagnostic fee is not $49, we do not use old parts (especially from 1996 as we do not even carry power supplies that old due to their higher potential for failure), and the said quoted price for all repairs also does not add up. Also, using a little common sense, a power supply that has been in use to work on the system would not expel dust when turned on again at the customers' home.

If this individual does exist and has problems, we would be more than happy to address them. Simply give us a call, as our number should appear on the top of our invoice. Any issues or felt discrepancies can be ironed out. We have plenty of references of satisfied customers, both return and new, who would be more than happy to come forward to debunk these accusations.
