Affordable Dentures employed bait-and-switch practices, taking advantage of my sister who could not afford necessary dentures so came to me for help, and me who paid the bill. They also failied to honor a current promotional discount after agreeing to do so.

Seeking lower cost dentures for my sister who was getting them for the first time, I found Affordable Dentures, which advertised everyday low fees of $570 for a complete denture set. My sister, LP, went to their office in Durham, NC. I could not go with her as I work and live several hours away.

She was told the advertised price was for a temporary denture set, not mentioned on the website. They switched her to the mid-grade set which would cost $1100, but told her to return in 2 weeks as she needed more healing. Upon returning 4/6/17, she was switched to the $2330 Ultimate package, on the advice furure relines at otherwise additional cost would be necessary.

This was $708 more than her dentist charged and defeated the purpose of saving money. As I was paying I went online again that day to better understand the different program and discovered a $150 promotional discount offer valid to 5/6/17. The coupon required presenting at time of service which I could not do so that same day of service I called at 3:15 to ask how I could get it to them only to find they close at 3pm. The next day I called back and was told by Tieysha they will honor the discount (she did not request I send the coupon), but give her until Monday as their computer was down. My sister visited on Monday and was told they will not honor the discount despite having promised to do so.

Given the circumstances of being only the payer not the recipient of service, I spoke to the manager explaining the circumstances and the promise to honor the discount, but she refused citing company policy.

As a result, I feel they failed to honor their promise and would not offer a good faith solution. I am also offended by their misleading advertising and bait-and-switch practices. I highly recommend, given no real savings are available on equally good dentures and they appear willing to take advantage of those less fortunate, they be avoided.
