I needed to have a place to live when I returned to my home town from out of state. I contacted Affordable Housing (an attractive name eliciting to the fact that they are "affordable")to have them assist me in finding a mobile home.

I sent a friend and my mother to see the home in question which was quoted to them to sell for $5000-$6000. It was a much older home, and this price was perfect. I knew that it must need some work, but not nearly what it really needed.

Affordable saw a sucker coming, and a way to make a substantial profit. They led me to think they were doing me all kinds of favors when in reality, I ended up paying for all of it in the amount she wrote the selling/purchase price for of $14,900. A far cry from $5000!!

I was rushed through the signing of all the paperwork because she kept stressing about all the things she had to do that day. I was feeling very rushed and was out of the office in less than 20 minutes.

I never received copies of the contract or anything I had allegedly signed. The only paperwork I had in my possession was the scribbled copy of figures, which she said was not the permanent paperwork. I never bothered to look at this piece of paper until two months later when I realized that I had never received copies of anything from the bank.

When I saw what the figure was I immediately filed a complaint with the department of banking. When she responded, she lied about several things and because she was big business, the Department of Banking dropped the issue and told me to hire an attorney, which I did.

I also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. There are also other details that I will not go into at this time, but I think you will all get the picture. I would never recommend that anyone do business with Affordable Housing.

I still don't know what she told the previous owner she would be selling the mobile home for, but my attorney is working on that as I type.
