I am a community organizer in Raleigh NC working with ARC residents. I am living in Raleigh for the next few months, to help these residents in their struggle against them. They are facing many of the same problems as the person from Oklahoma. The property manager is never to be found easily.

Recently she went away for the weekend. Some tenents put their rent check in the mailbox ON-TIME. When she came back on monday, she told them that their rent was late, because she was not there to receive it. She then tried to charge them a late fee.

People are being charged for cable, even if they do not want to even have cable tv. Many don't even have televisions and are still paying for cable tv service.

When people forget to cut their grass, ARC employees come by and cut the grass and charge $50.

Right now, they are petitioning the NC Utilities Commission, to get sole rights to be the only utilites provider for their properties here.

Can someone please point me in the right direction to ideas and information that may aide us in our campaign to stop ARC? I would also like to hear or read your stories, so that I may have a better idea what we are up against.

Hector,
I read your article on ripoffreport.com. I have lived in an ARC community in Utah for three years. I have not been happy with how my community is run. I feel that ARCs business practices are not in any way to the benefit of the ARC resident. Because of this I have created a Blog in hopes of unifying ARC residents across the country and giving ourselves a voice. I hope to show ARC that we will not stand by and be treated this way. In our community the majority of the residents are widows, single mothers with small children, disabled persons and families living well below the poverty level (people who have little-to-no other housing options). I feel ARC takes advantage of these people who are just struggling to keep their heads above the water. I would like to see ARC change for the better and work together with, and in favor of their residents! Things can change! I would love your input on my Blog:

(((ROR redacted)))
Please spread the word to all current or past ARC residents you are in contact with! I feel that if we unite, together we can make a difference! Dont let ARC drive us from our homes! Please participate!

Sincerely, your Fellow ARC Resident
