Christopher Fox (Owner of Afleet Mortgage)
Loan Officer
Afleet Mortgage

From March through June 2009, I had correspondence with Christopher Fox, a loan officer at Afleet Mortgage, to engage in the process of refinancing my home mortgage. Mr. Fox was also the same person/company that completed my mortgage for my home that I purchased a few years ago.
The service received (or should I say lack thereof) has not been as promised or expected. In March I was told I would be approved for the refinance and at that time asked to be locked into the current low rate of 4.90%. After weeks of follow up via email and phone with MR Fox, I still had no clue whether or not he had locked in the rate, as he was not responding. When I finally did receive a response it was clear that the services would not be rendered as promised. The response was that all refinances had been shifted to low priority as purchase money volume is a bit out of control and take priority. I was absolutely appalled to hear that as a good standing customer I had been pushed aside just because I was asking for a refinance and not a new mortgage, regardless that I had contacted the loan officer months prior and had already begun the process and paperwork. In fact in later emails I was further told that not only were the refinances second priority; they were actually completely put on hold until mortgage applications dropped. I was not notified of this, I was only made aware when I followed up for the 7th time to see where Mr Fox was in the process.

To resolve the problem, I contacted corporate which in turn told me that Mr Fox should still be processing my refinance application, as they have not been put on hold. Furthermore, corporate told me that since Mr Fox had already begun the paperwork, I would need to obtain it from him or have him complete it. I am absolutely disgusted, shocked and appalled that Christopher Fox would put me aside, and lie to me, just because he had an increase in applications which paid him a higher commission. My personal cash flow was dependent and affected by Mr Fox's carelessness and unprofessionalism. It is for this reason I would like to warn anyone that may be in the process of thinking about refinancing or choosing to go with Christopher Fox at Afleet Mortgage.

R,

I would kindly like to respond to your comments.  I performed a pre-qualification based on the information you provided over the phone.  I then said in order to lock the loan and proceed with the application I would need to receive additional written income documentation to have the loan approved through automated underwriting and the application produced for signatures.

You did call for updates on status and I did continue to ask for your documentation.  As I recall it took several weeks for you to produce the documentation.  In the mean time volume did increase to levels never experienced before, and at that same time, credit requirements were more stringent. Therefore like Originators at all other companies, I had to prioritize my work.  As I conveyed to you that purchase mortgages had to take precedence over refinances.

I apologize if you felt pushed aside but again I had to prioritize my client pipeline.   I did not lie to you, because in your piece you explain that I told you that purchases had to take precedence over refinances.

Your statement  "I am absolutely disgusted, shocked and appalled that Christopher Fox would put me aside, and lie to me, just because he had an increase in applications which paid him a higher commission." is inaccurate, false, and baseless statement.  You are inferring that I was purposely not closing your refinance so I could close other loans.
