On April 15th, 2008 I received a letter from Afni, Inc. informing me of a debt owed for services i've never had. Upon further research of my own i found Afni to be fraudulent. They are charging me 473.65 for Embarq services. They have also posted this on my credit history report using only their company name, no where in my credit history report is Embarq listed. Reson being is because i've never in my life had Embarq services.

Send them a letter as well as the three reporting agencies

Telling them you are are disputing the debt and want them to validate the debt. Send a copy of this letter to the three agencies also as you will let them know this debt is being disputed. Assuming as you state the debt is not yours (which I am not doubting), attorneys are easy to find for this because these morons are in violation of the FDCPA for reporting this bogus debt to the reporting agencies. You should be able to get a nice tidy sum from these bottom feeding scum. Most people don't bother going this far, so that's why they are allowed to get away with this time and timea gain. The more suits these lowlifes lose; the harder it will be for them to stay in business.
