Afni Inc. is attempting for the second time to extort money from me for debts that do not exist. Further, they violate the Fair Credit Reporting Act by not sending a legally required validation of the debt within five days of the original collection letter. In fact they do not, again as legally required, validate debts at all.

They attempted last year to extort over $2000 from me alleging I owed for an accident that did not exist, allegedly in San Francisco when I was in my residence in Ecuador. They offered to "help me" by accepting a lower fee to "make this go away." This is also illegal and clearly extortion, a felony.

The current alleged debt they are harrassing me for is an alleged debt to Comcast for $198.22. I do not owe any money to Comcast. I am in good standing with Comcast and current with them in my payments, as I always was. Once again they are falsely and intentionally attempting to extort me by attempting to collect a debt that does not exist.

I advise everyone who is ever contacted by them for any reason to document their violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act, attempts at extortion, and attempts to collect moneys that are not owed. I advise that in addition to Ripoff Report you report them to law enforcement and consumer protection agencies, such as the Federal Trade Commission.

Clearly from the extremely long list of reports here they are not an honest nor reputable company. On their website they do not even identify themselves as a collection agency. What does that tell you.

Do NOT pay them, unless you honestly owe the debt. They are liars, crooks, thieves and extortionists.
