I just recieved a demand letter from Afni saying that I owe $495.50 for a bill from Verizon Communications. I do not owe this. I was researching Afni and came across this website with all the same compliants. According to several of these complaints, Afni has violated several sections of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, not to mention these debts are well beyond the statute of limitations in almost every state. I have emailed the attorney (dr_civil@lawyer.com)who is looking to file a class action lawsuit on our behalf. I hope that all of you will contact Dar too.

It's great that some attorney is going after this company, BUT before you or anyone else start giving out to personal information, that will be needed, ssn#, copies of credit report, ect.

You need to make sure, you are dealing with a real attorney!

If you email this person, before you give any information, get a phone number, complete address, where is he license, bar number, what type of law, does he do. name of firm, how long have you been a lawyer. then check the information you received, before you do anything

I wouldn't put it pass some of these collection agency's, one of the collectors law firms or the skip tracers they have, to pull something.

Are you being ask to mail your information to a P.O. Box or give everything on line? If so I don't think that would be worth the risk.
