Afni, Inc Fraudulent Billing Ripoff Bloomington Illinois
Yesterday, I recieve a collection Notice from Afni for $507.36.
It is for a Verizon phone dating back to aug 1996. The only problem is I have had the same phone number since 1995, I have been at my current address since 1991, and this one is for a completely differant part of the state.
According to them the phone number is in my social security number, and at my parents address the only problem is I have not lived there in 1983 and have not had a phone in my name there, ever.
I filed bankruptcy 2 years ago and when I went through my credit report there was nothing there. It is possible that my family may have taken out a phone in my name without my permission and without my knowledge. But I have not. I am going to write AFNI and dispute the debt. Any other suggestions

I sent them a letter certified just like the ones found within these pages. They sent me a breakdown of the bill. along with the billing address. They did not prove to me that it is my bill. Its not as I have not lived in that area since 1983 and the bill is from 95-97. I also asked them to showm me proof that they are legally able to collect in my state whioch they did not. I have been at my present home since 92 200 miles north of the bill. Its not mine and I will not pay it.
I will be sending a cease letter to them for monday. And will be checking my Credit report though since the bill is 10yrs old I believe they cant put anything on it.
