I recieved a letter of collections from this company, they say I owe cingular wireless $310.50.

I do not owe them any money I really do not know how they got my information but this bill is not mine.

I'm from illinois but have lived in another state for the past 11 years.

How can they do this to hard working people just trying to get by, and make an honest living?

Tamara, AFNI are junk debt buyers! They have no idea who the real debtor is!

Tamara,

This is a very common scam. They are fishing for whomever responds! Everyone with the same or similar name to you got that same letter.

I bet that is actually an old AT&T debt that was charged of 6-10 years ago, and now it is in Cingulars pile as they bought AT&T.

Here's what you do: Send a DEBT VALIDATION request as per your rights under the FDCPA. In this letter clearly dispute the debt and DEMAND to see whatever you allegedly signed to create the debt, as well as a FULL account history, and itemization of charges.

Send this by certified mail, return reciept requested. Put the certified# on the letter itself and keep a copy for your records. This proceedure is very important.

And, STAY OFF THE phone! NEVER speak to any collector on the phone for any reason.
