Afni Ripoff Sent collection letter for 15 year old debt aka us mail fraud Bloomington Illinois
I have lived in CA for the last 11 years, yesterday I received a letter from afni stating that have an outstanding balance with Verizon New York. In doing a little research this probably relates to a phone that I had in college. I graduated 15 years ago.
Don't know if I owe this or not, and don't really care. What I do know is that my current credit report shows no such item, and that any bad debt over 7 years gets dropped from a credit report. NY state has a 6 year statute of limitation to collect such debt.
Since I received this notice through the mail and afni has no recourse here I have filed a mail fraud complaint with the US Postal Inspector.
This is a complete scam.
