AFNI sent a notice for an account closed over 6 years ago. Bloomington Illinois
I received a collections notice from AFNI saying that I owe 190.17 to QWEST. I had a QWEST account that I had paid and disconnected when I moved away over 6 years ago. I have called both AFNI and QWEST, neither one can give me a reason i'm receiving a bill 6 years later. AFNI has also given me different stories as to why I'm being billed.
It is very difficult to track down information from 6 years ago, even qwest no longer has this information in their computer. Luckily this is not on my credit report, which seems strange to me because I am in the process of buying a house and you would think if a bill were delinquent for 6 years, it might show up.
I have been attempting to resolve this on my own, until I have seen many very similar reports to my situation in the recent days. I don't know what to do next. How does a bill show up after 6 years??

1) DO NOT pay AFNI one penny.
3) Send a letter via Certified Mail + Return Receipt to AFNI stating:
Per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, I am requesting:
- written validation of this alleged debt and that said alleged debt is within the statute of limitations.
