Having purchased lawn equipment in 2001, I thought disability insurance was a good idea, since the purchase was $5,000.00, and I make more than my wife.

So, I've been paying insurance premiums since then, on a monthly basis, plus the monthly payment on the account for almost 4 years now. I was totally disabled in December, 2004, when I fell off the garage roof, shattering my left wrist.

I sent in what I thought was all the necessary forms to AIG by Dec. 31, 2004. I keep getting monthly excuses as to why my claim has not been processed or filed. AIG never willingly informs me of any missing data or anything else. I always have to call to find out what is going on. So, I've been trying to get my loan paid since Jan.,2005, but there's always an excuse as to why it isn't getting paid- no contract#, need a monthly statement, etc.

I figure I've wasted enough in insurance premiums alone to pay off the account! And I feel that if and when AIG decides to pay up, I'll be back to work. I think that's what they're waiting for anyway. But I have faithfully paid on this account while being disabled, hoping that the claim would get paid.

I have made progress; at least I have an ineffective claim number!
