After spending over $300 to protect my vacation from the US to Australia I found the insurance to be a waste of money and time as they continued to find reasons on why not to pay.

I had two travel delays going causing missing a connection and having to stay over in San Francisco for 24 hours. Because of that (plane problems), AIG said they would not pay for my pre-paid hotel and the one day of lost vacation. They did pay a min amount to cover food, etc.

On the return trip, the plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Honolulu also causing flight delays of 9 hours. They claim that because they paid on few dollars for expense on the first leg, they do not cover any costs on the second leg (return) They only cover one flight even though both flights were delayed and caused damage.

I am still trying to recover money I paid to the travel agent for the hotel and I don't see anyone offering to cover the lost day of holiday. Don't buy their insurance. It doesn't pay.
