After receieving a bill that had an over the limit fee and a raised interest rate from 14.9 to 27% I called and closed my account. The company removed a 39.00 fee however when I tried to make payment arrangements they would not help me. The customer service company told me to contact the Executive office which I did by email and by fax and have waited a month with no response. I had to borrow money to pay my payment in full and when my bill came this month it was once again over the limit due to the raise in the interest rate. I talked to 5 customer service reps today trying to make payment arrangements until I can get back to work with no help. I was told once again to contact the executive office, which I have done again. I lost my job 6/27/2008. I am living on unemployment, peanuts. I had two surgeries 7/09 and march 09 on my shoulder and have just started physical therapy to try to get myself employable. I am just trying to make payment arrangements. The interest increase has made it impossible for me to make a payment that will make a dent in the bill. I will just keep paying the same payment over and over and I will still keep getting fees and being over the limit on a closed card. I think it should be illegal for the card company to do this. When my card originally went over the limit by 10.00 it was due to the card companies automated sytem tellimg me my available credit was more then it actually was. This is why I closed the account. I will never get this bill paid if they cannot make arrangements to stop the fees and interest until I can get a job. I am trying to make some kind of payment but I cannot get anyone to talk to that has any authority to help me. My other credit card companies are more then helpful. I have read horror stories about this company and now I am part of one of them. Any advise on what to do? I actually called a number that was on one of the rip off reports three times today and never got a live person. I did leave a message with one person and the secretary and no one has called me back. What am I suppose to do? I am having a hardship like most of America and I am trying to do right by this bill but I have hit a brick wall. What do I do next?
