airfare.com advertises fares on sites such as tripadvisor.com. When selecting some of these fares on airfare.com itself, sometimes a message appears:

The price for the trip you have selected is not available any more due to the highly changing availability from the airline.

When this is shown, a fare higher than the original fare shown on tripadvisor.com is substituted.

The information given is not true and the tactic is simply a bait-and-switch. I discovered this issue when searching for a fare on Lufthansa. Clicking on various flights and back to the original one repeatedly gave me a sequence of different, higher, fares than the original fare advertised. Going to Lufthansa's web site revealed an unchanging fare at the original price shown at tripadvisor.com.
