AIU IS A RIPOFF ripoff. We didn't change lives, we ruined them. This school is a scam we all used scripts, we all said the same things the same way and we don't really care about you guys. Chicago Illinois
I've sat down and read all of the reports by former "admissions advisors" and students. I must say that I think that so called students are employees of the company trying to make this SCAM sound good.
As some of the posts said we as "admissions advisors" had to call the students several times a day trying to set that appointment up. Yes it's true upon hire you are well aware of the fact that this is a sales environment. Which was fine with me because I hold a Marketing degree from a top university.
My problem though is that the process is unethical. We tell people what they want to hear, we hide the cost. We use what they tell us against them and basically at the end of the day the only thing that matters is whether or not you got those 7 enrollments per month to hit budget.
A day as an admissions advisor would typically go like this. You get in at your scheduled time and you do "fisrt hour dials". Thats right kids this is prime time so we "pound the phones". We'd attempt to set as many appointments as possible. After that first hour we'd have a POW WOW to get us all pumped up for the phones. Are you kidding me? What kind of so called professional environment has "RA RA's"? Sadly enough over half of the people who call you have never even stepped foot inside of a college. How does a company that promotes higher education hire people who don't have one? We had the so called directors who were all over us like white on rice through out the day checking our progress, but then they would preach to us that we changed lives.
We didn't change lives, we ruined them. I must say as an aspiring business owner I would not hire any of you people holding degrees from AIU. How can you go to school and get a degree in 13 months? There is no way that it is effective, besides it takes you 4 years to complete a REAL degree. This school is a scam we all used scripts, we all said the same things the same way and we don't really care about you guys. You're only an enrollment that got me closer to my goal. When I went home at night I never cared about how you were going to pay your bills as long as you got me that 50 dollars in for the application.
The sad thing is that our supervisors made us feel this way. When you walk in and you have someone asking you where you are for the day and they never ask about the student on an individual basis. They just want to know if you got that 50 bucks in.
What kind of school puts that much emphasis on an "application fee"? What kind of school calls you over and over and over again?
We always stressed that we are Regionally accredited by SACS. How many of you do your research and know that they are ON PROBATION because of their unethical practices. What kind of company makes you work on Saturday, Sunday and holidays? The best advice that I can give to anyone considering going to school there is to do your research. I would NEVER go to this school and I WOULD NOT advise you to. This company goes through employees like people change clothes.
Exactly why they use staffing agencies. The environment is fear everyone is afraid of losing their job.
Fortunately for me I was a lucky one. Guess I was a tad more convincing on the phone than others because it was easy to get you guys to open up to me and enroll.
I'm GLAD to say that I no longer work there and I hope to never be affilliated with them in any way ever again. With all of this said people PLEASE do your research. Even though it make take a little longer GO TO A REAL SCHOOL. Get your degree, there are 2 other online schools that are a lot better not going to name the names but just look into it.
