I hired AJC Renovations to remodel my kitchen, living room and dining room.  I had a contract that was re-adjusted several times that no one could understand it.  I think that was done on purpose as to make it more confusing to the home owner.  He ordered the wrong size bay window for my living room.  This window was taken out on Sept 1st so his workers could easily demo inside of house and throw out the garbage through the window opening down to the dumpster that was below the window opening in my driveway.  The wrong size window came in  October so a new one had to be re ordered.  He lied several times to me as to when this window in the correct size was due in.  It finally arrived in late Novemeber.  I had a huge piece of ply wood affixed to the gaping hole for 2 and a half months.  Very unsecured and I felt very nervous about the security of my home, not to mention how freezing my home was due to no window and just a flimsy piece of wood covering the huge opening.  He told me several times he would come and insulate the area until the window came in to which he never did. The dumpter damaged my garage door leaving 2 dents in it.  The contractor denied they damagaed it.  His workers would clean up at the end of the day and use my toilet bowl to throw down papertowels and wipes  and this caused a huge back up to which I had to hire a plumber and pay $250 to fix.  After the first dumpster was picked up, his workers used my driveway as a garbage can and threw all debris in my driveway.  Sanitation came by and fined me $100 for the mess.   After some back and forth with the contractor I had him deduct $100 from my bill.  Afterall, it was his doing.   His electricians updated outlets in my home and when I went to use them, 5 were not hooked up and therefore didn't work.  His workers cut my coax cable so I had to hire someone to re run the coax cable back into my living room area to my tv. - cost me another $200.  His workers sealed up the wall above fire place to where my tv was going before I could run the wires through the wall... I had to have someone channel out the wall so the wires could be hidden in the wall.  His workers assembled my isalnd in my kitchen and drilled a hole in my new cabinet door not realizing that my garbage was to be in there and they had to move the hinges and knob  Now I have a hole in the new cabinet door.  He tried fix with wood filler but it looks awful.  Knobs installed on my cabinets are not even.  One is higher than the other one.  Drawer is crooked.  He also gave me the wrong measurements for my kitchen so now 3 in of crown molding hangs past the wall. In my contract it states that I am to get a new side door and screen door.  He didn't do it and when I asked him,  he told me he doesn't install doors. He then said he'd take off $95?  Only $95 for a new side door and new screen door and installation!??  Absolutely unacceptable.   He also hired a plumber who didn't know how to install the kickplate on my firgidaire dishwasher.  The contractor himself told me he doesn't know how to install it because he does not deal with that brand of appliance.  It is a kickplate that snaps on the bottom of the dishwasher like every other brand of appliance.   I also had someone else come in to level my gas oven range.  When I went to cook on it, everything went to the back of the pan.  It was not even leveled.  He raised my celings in living room and dining room.  The tape job is awful... It is cracking and peeling off at the seams.  I have since hired someone to repair this at an added cost to me.  I also had to hire an electrician to fix my island and put electrical in the kitchen island.  My new floor was a mess with paint splattter marks.   He never had his workers clean up the areas they worked on in my home.  I would come home to quite a mess at the end of the day.  The list of things not done right is endless.  Everytime I asked a question or anything related to my job, he had an attitude with me and told me I was bothering him.  He did things before asking me - such as which way do I want the kitchen cabinet molding hung, or where I want electrical switches, ....  I wish I had found reviews on him or checked out his referecnces or personally spoke to prior clients of his.  It would have saved me a lot of time, added money,  and aggravation.   He did quick work but not quality work on my home.  Now I have another contractor helping trouble shoot the mess he left me with.  My opinion is he takes jobs and wants to "get in and get out".  The reason I hired him was because his estimate was low but in the end I will most likely pay more to trouble shoot and fix the mistakes made.  It just goes to show you... You do get what you pay for.  I hope I can save someone else the hassle and inconvenience and cost that I am now stuck with.

Job description was to make the living room , kitchen , and dining room all new with a cathedral ceiling . First day we demoed all drywall , kitchen , floors etc . Also removed the bay window . Client also mad changes as per Windows a few times before I placed the order . I did order all Windows after we agreed on style and sizes .. When I placed the order which I have documents , my window rep made an error and delivered the wrong size bay window . I sent the window back and they re ordered the correct size .. They told me 4 weeks .. I was trying to have them expedite it but it was out of my hands , and spoke to the rep in front of client . As far as the kitchen , I was supposed to supply the kitchen , and homeowner decided to get her own kitchen so therefore I credited her the allowance I gave for the kitchen . The crown that came with the kitchen can go either way , there is no correct way .. The garbage disposal cabinet was the incorrect size and did not fit the cabinet , so therefore we put the knob on as it should be .. We put all the knobs on level .. It could be the quality of the cabinets that the client purchased .. We also did the electric on the island as per nyc code .. As for the fireplace , my crew built the firplace wall , and client wanted to change the design which was a structural change , which indeed we satisfied the client and made the change . AJC was not to run any cable wire or phone wire . We removed wiring but left the main wire at its location . The problem with the electric is new to me . I went back and forth with the client about the side door and screen door .. Wasn't sure if she wanted to change the entire door out etc .. The outcome was that I credited her for the door, and just re painted the door as we agreed on . I explained that we don't install Screen doors , not doors . I also credited a 100 for that door installation . I never charged anything extra , only changes that the client wanted , or needed . Client never reached out to me about any issues or problems with electric . I offer a one year warranty on all projects when completed . The ceiling had a few cracks from settling which the client didn't even call , I seen a complaint .. How can you leave a complaint when not even reaching out to the contractor .. Makes no sense to me and people just trying to sabotage and tarnish my name .. I stand by my work , always have and always will .. When I did go to clients home to inspect and repair and cracked seam in drywall , mind you its a 15 foot high ceiling with existing 2x6 rafters .. The countertop was removed and I guess a handyman doing electric work , adding an outlet in the island backsplash . Before we did any electrical work , we did a client walk through , electric was put as per clients design , plumbing was done as per kitchen design . We cleaned up the job everyday , numerous containers , and we cleaned the home prior to giving the house back to the client . Client also said she is having her cleaning lady come to do a final cleaning . At the end of the day , the client just had to reach out to me or call me if there was any type of issue . I never heard anything until now .
