Al Hendrickson Toyota Coconut Creek, FL Intimidation, harrassment, wrong interest rate, wrong car price Coconut Creek, Florida
Beware of Al Hendrickson Toyota, Coconut Creek Florida. The staff are harrassing clients to sign contracts but they change the conditions that the client agreed on. I had to deal with some tiny, immature and rude Finance Manager by the name of Eddie; what a joke this clown was! Al Hendrickson Toyota hires inexperienced staff. This clown was not even properly dressed for business; I wouldn't even wear such attire to mowe the lawn. I have visited 8 dealerships and obtained the list of fees from all. Al Hendrickson Toyota are charging more than twice as much as any other dealerships I delt with. Their total fees totalled $2,100.00 excluding State Taxes. Their software doesn't even calculate the monthly payments correctly. Beware buyers, stay away from Al Hendrickson Toyota, Coconut Creek, FL.
I am a single mom with 2 children and my son works part-time in a restaurant in addition to going to school. I have been shopping around online and in person for a used vehicle for the past 1 1/2 month. I spent about 30 minutes walking around the lot at Al Henrickson Toyota dealership hoping to see prices on their used vehicles but none were listed. I checked their site hoping to find some prices but although they had about 7-8 jeep patriot on their lot, they only showed one on their website with a price of just under 14K. I walked to the front of the building where all the sales representative are waiting for their catch of the day. Some hyper middle age man immediately greeted me and proceeded with his sales pitch. I was honest with him and explained what I was looking for. He rushed some other guy to get the vehicle I was showing him on my phone and insisted that I take it for a spin which I did. I didn't like the interior as it was too damaged for my taste. No problem he said, I have other ones buy they are $700 more he added. I checked the other vehicle which was in a better condition than the first one. I was still willing to purchase as it exceeded my budget. They told me they needed to check my credit and because it's only a soft pull, it wouldn't affect my score. I agreed. They never disclosed all their fees which I found out to be very high compared to other dealerships. I only found out about their E-recording fee ($450), Dealer fee ($999), title transfer and new tag ($400), nitrogene in tires ($250)......etc. The total of fees plus 6% tax ended up being $3000 in addition to the price of the vehicle.
Not having a very good credit, I explained that I was not willing to pay more than 7% on financing which is fair for my current financial position. I ended up in a small office face to face with the Finance Manager who pushed me to my limits. His constant intimidation pushed me to the edge. After having to watch him doodle my financial situation on a piece of paper, he informed me that one bank was willing to finance me at 11% which I declined immediately. At that point, I got up and apologized for having taking too much of his time already and informed him I was not interested in this loan and was also not in agreement with the total amount of their fees. I told him I had to go home, eat something and relax. Well, after telling 3 times that I had to leave, he ended up intimidating me and ordered me to sit for 2 minutes. I sat and had to listen to all of his comments. I got up again to leave but NO, you can't just leave. He said "if I give you a 7%, do you buy a car today? At that point, I was completely drained, mentally and physically and ended up accepting the deal and signed the paperwork.
I drove the vehicle home with the sales representative since I had my car. I then drove him back to the dealership and while driving, I commented to him that the vehicle did mot sound right. There was a loud even noise which was constant all the way to the dealership. He said it was just a noise in the tire, nothing bad. I must add that no copies of the documents that I signed were given to me. I had to ask and all they gave me was a yellow copy as long as my arm of the contract. They said the rest of the documents would be mailed to me upon receipt of a pay stub, utility bills and proof of insurance. I drove back to the dealership with the requested documents the very same afternoon and was completely ignored. I waited for quite a while and ended leaving empty handed. I felt sick to my stomach. I knew I had been pushed, pressured and intimidated throughout the process by the the Finance Manager.
I called them the next day (today) and explained to the manager that I wanted to return the car and cancel the deal for all the obvious reasons listed above. The guy said "sorry, you signed", we don't have a return policy.
I know this vehicle will not last the length of the loan and I know that I was pressured by the Finance Manager who used unethical sales techniques. I found out this idiot was on his second week at the dealership.

- The second he said you can't leave..you should have been on your phone to 9-1-1 telling them that you were being held against your will. If you didn't have your phone you should have been yelling and screaming at the top of your lungs so that everyone in the dealership could hear you and come to your rescue.
If this happened as you said go down to your local police department and file a report on this to get him charged with a crime. Or are you suffering from buyer's remorse and just exaggerating this situation to try and make an excuse as to why you should be allowed to return it?
