Parked in a shopping center (Party City) and walked to fast food resturant next door. This shopping center has 2 buildings: one has Party City and the other is for rent. Claim by tow-er that I was subject to being towed because I did not enter Party City. This large empty lot is not in danger of running out of parking spaces for the few customers it has. The retail establishment did not call for tow. So who called for tow? I say there is a lookout across the street that calls tow trucks to come and rip off drivers in the name of private property. ( And probably receives compensation) If you can't earn money threw rent-why not tow poeple from a retail center parking lot. I had spoken to police and learned that this is a common accurance with trucks being towed (at the Ace Shopping center for the same reason) and their trucks being subjected to $2800 fines in cash. Police are called weekly.
I believe this is a scam and the tow company seems to work out of a locksmith shop (Bryant/Long Beach Rd)but gives the address as 3030 New Street. I would like to know if others are being singled out and have experienced the same thing. It cost me $135 in cashto get my car and 2 1/2 hours of agravation.
