Me and my girlfriend recently used Alamo on a trip to California. We picked it up in Orange County, and dropped it off in Las Vegas at the end of our trip. We got a hybrid and thought we got a great deal overall, but now we can see the downside of paying so little.

Almost a month after our trip, we get a letter in the mail stating that a damage claim has been filed. The letter is extremely vague, asking for our insurance or credit card information. It makes no mention of what the damages are, or how much they cost. There was no damage to the car. When we returned it, the barely-attentive staff told us everything was okay after checking over the car and gave us our receipt with no mention of any damages.

This kind of act is incredibly petty and unfair because they gave us the impression that everything was okay. Had there been any actual damage on the car, they would have pointed it out and done everything they could right then and there to document the whole thing and make sure we were in the wrong. But naturally, we did nothing wrong, but did not get anything in writing to prove it one way or the other, so now it is our word against theirs. Avoid Alamo if you can help it, it will cost you much more in the end.
