On 4/10 I drove to the Albertsons store on Ellsworth and Baseline in Mesa, AZ in order to buy the advertised salmon for $ 3.99/ lbs

Actually I had bought salmon for $ 1.99 / lbs in that same store but the price was acceptable. when I arrived at the fish counter it was "this was a misprint, it is $ 6.99 / lbs" So it looks like Albertsons found a legal way for false advertising: Just claim that it was a misprint and put a note onto the counter. most important: the customer has made it into the store and will buy something else instead.

Any other store would have said "ok, we are sorry but we will honor the ad since you have already come here" Not so Albertsons: the store manager Jerry Allen Schutte was "unavailable", even after more than 4 phone calls on 4 different days after the incident.

The story with the "misprint" does not make sense at all because $ 7,- a pound is the regular every day price anywhere for salmon, not a special offer. Any reputable store that cares about its customers takes its advertisements serious and honors what they have printed. If it is not their responsability then why don't they go after the company that printed the advertisement ? For the customer it does not make any difference if it was a "misprint" or false advertisement, the result is the same.

Dear Mr. Schutte: Since you don't like to talk to your customers, here is our feedback in writing...

We used to be frequent customers at your store and spend a lot of money but obviously you have too many customers and don't need our business. Albertsons lost our business forever for a few pounds of salmon.

Most circular ads...like Albertson's read (in small print) subject to price change or availablilty. Respectfullt they should have honored your request for 3.99/lb. Legally? They did everything right.

Most grocery store circulars state in small print on the bottom that prices are subject to change, and that the company reserves the right to correct errors.

I'm sure there's some sort of legalize at the bottom of the circular to protect the company. It would be a different matter if they were advertising it at the store and it rang up differently.
