Alertpay/Patel Firoz Exhoribant Phone Bill Charges Montreal, Canada
Early in January of this year I opened an account with Alertpay. Initially there was no problem. I used there services one time for a credit card charge of $25. All was well moving forward.
On Febuary 22nd I called the following #5147485774 which was provided to me by Alertpay upon opening my account. Just below the phone# was an email contact information...alertpay.com/info/ContactUs.aspx...The reason for me to contact by phone is I have a very attractive long distance phone rate plan. Under a nickel per minute.
On March 20th,2010 I received my verizon phone bill. My bill was up by $30 over the normal bill cycle. On close examination of the bill I noticed that I had been billed at a special International Rate of in excess of $1.00 per minute for calling the above noted number!!
On this discovery I first attempted to contact alertpay via email to complain of the exhoribantant phone charges...only to have the email sent back as undeliverable. I then contacted Verizon to notify of a phony/bogus type of scam where the consumer is unaware of the charges.
I would be interested to know if other readers have had similar type experiences?
