I had my pool serviced by Alex Shapiro owner of Pool Monkey out of Mesa Arizona.  I will use the term serviced loosely. My pool had black mold and algae for the duration of service.  I continued to use the same company as I had used them years prior under different ownership and believe in loyalty. This was a mistake.

After repeatedly pointing out the fact that the technician was arriving with algae and mold, taking photos of the algae and mold, and then leaving it with algae and mold, little to no action was taken to correct the situation.

Finally I was able to get a course correction after draining the pool personally and being advised they would need to acid wash.  I'm not sure why there was no action taken to remove the mold the 9 months prior.  Ultimately I removed funds from the rental account until the situation was rectified.

Post acid wash (8 months into the issue), the pool looked great- the exact way you would expect a pool to look that recives service. It was sparkling for about one maybe two weeks.  After that week or so, it went back to growing black mold and algae. Two weeks later it looked like it wasn't acid washed at all.

If your expectation of a pool company is that your pool stays consistently clear, free of algae and mold, and ready to enter- this is not your company.

A text from the most recent tenant "We pay you extra every month for pool service and a pool that has had green and black growth on the walls since we started our lease.  We are extremely frustrated that our kids want to swim and we have to tell them that they can't because we are afraid they will end up with a bacterial infection from entering."

The owner Alex was non-apologetic for the sub-par service and complained about not getting paid instead of rectifying the situation.  The reality is any dollar spent to have your tenants permanently upset or to have a pool that you do not feel safe entering is one dollar too much.

Not only was he non apologetic, but when the sub par service was pointed out he blamed a myraid of things (including storms that weren't happening when these photos were taken and the pump having been off for 48 hours in April 2022).

Simply put- the photos will speak for themselves.

Save yourself the headache and avoid the monkey business.
