Alexander Chevrolet Olds, LLC car repair service; quoted price; repairs not done; stopped payment; got turned over for collection consumer fraud ripoff Dickson Tennessee
Had car towed to Alexander Chevrolet for repairs to daughter's car. She told the tow truck driver to make sure all the burned wires under the hood were replaced before hooking the car up to diagnostics, as this had happened a few times before. I spoke with the service department and ordered work done as follows: Replace ALL burned wires under the hood, put them in a protective cover to prevent future burning and rewire her two fans.
The price quoted for this job was $370.86. Received a call back about 15 minutes later from them saying they had hooked the car up to diagnostics.....? To make a long story short, she picked up her car several days later (after being told she could pick it up that same day).
It was running horribly, so she pulled back to the service dept. and told them the car was not fixed. They said, oh, just go drive it, but don't go too far. She went to the Wal-Mart parking lot, looked under the hood and saw that ONE WIRE had been replaced. Nothing else had been touched. She took the car home and parked it, called me, I called them demanding to know why the work was not done.
They said, we were just supposed to get the car STARTED. WHAT??!!?? Those were not the terms or conditions of the repair request and quote. I stopped payment on the check. I called them many, many times trying to get this straightened out. Their response was NOT to call me back for settlement, but turn me over for collection.

You have to have it written what they are to do and price for it to work for you , if you went to court you would loose this case as you have nothing in writting about what they where supposed to do and the price for it . Also her telling the tow truck drive has nothing to do with anything , he has nothing to do with the service dept at all .
Your best bet is to just pay the bill and get it in writting next time and NOT TRY TO DO IT OVER THE PHONE ......
Take it as a hard lesson learned in this hard world we live in ..
