Complaint Review: Alfred Auto

In July 2024 my wife ran across an ad on Facebook for a very appealing little Ford Edge. She was looking for a new car and it made sense to buy a car from a dealer so that there was the reassurance of a warranty for at least a few months in case anything was wrong with the car. She being a small business owner travels up to 300 miles a day going from client to client. If she misses a day not only does she lose the money she possibly will lose the client as future business. That back story out of the way and a 2.5 hour drive, we showed up at Alfred Auto to test drive the car. Immediately as I'm doing the physical safety checks I noticed a couple small things nothing to hazardous screaming run away this machine is a bottomless money pit. One thing that stood out and I thought the previous owners were meticulous and had coated the bottom of the car with a rubberized undercoating to protect from rust and winter driving conditions.

After driving it for a bit we ended up at the desk of Gary Enos owner of Alfred Auto Sales. After a brief negotiations and asking Gary about the issues I found, leaking power steering fluid, sway bar links and Rubberized coating the deceptive and manipulation came out. Un noticeable at first Mr. Enos seemed to be a very caring and business savvy person who told me not to worry, the car came from Florida and even though Florida being a coastal state that cars that are from the upper mid east to eastern states were the only states to worry about rust and or purchasing from those states. Never Florida, and not to worry anyways all cars bought from Alfred Auto come with a 6 month bumper to bumper warranty coving anything going wrong. His mechanic would fix the other issues and we scheduled to return the following day to take possession of our new Edge. .*Day of pick up: Signing the contract was smooth and relatively clear and understandable. It's after that the unsavory and concerning behavior began. It started with him asking us to lie to our lender in reference to our trade in and tell them our deposit was paid in full and in cash on the day of purchase even though our agreement was 1000 cash, trade in would be picked up and another 1000 broken up into payments that he promised to call before attempting to take which not one time to date has he done. If he would have called on the dates he was supposed to he would have robbed us of another 750 which we would have written up as a loss but he did not call there for he did not receive payment!

His fault not ours! Should have called and would have been paid! Start of lies, misrepresentation and NO communication from Gary or representatives of Alfred Auto: About a week after purchase, my wife's vehicle lost control and power steering to the point that as fast as we could pour powersteering fluid in it would leak out. 3 times we had to get emergency Road side services and a final tow to Brakes plus we find out that it was not a loose line like Gary told us his mechanic fixed. It was the entire rack and pinon mechanism that was bad and No one touched the power steering lines the colored fluids coming out in their opinion was an additive not recommended by manufacture and should never be used in our rack and pinon situation. On top of that the rubberized coating that Gary said was there as a precondition protectant and came in with the car was actually recently applied and it was covering up and concealing a severe rust problem. A problem so severe that our car if subjected to a Colorado road worthy test would fail immediately due to the extreme rusted subframe and structural integrity of impact prevention points. This would have never been known without the guys at Brakes Plus putting our car on a lift and as they hoisted the car up all factory lift points crumbled and fell to the floor as piles of rust chips! After calling Gary a dozen times with no reply, calling Alfred Auto another dozen and leaving messages. Plus over a dozen texts to their 24 text line. NO RESPONSE OR CARE CAME FROM GARY AS SOON AS THAT DEAL WAS SIGNED! WAIT THERES MORE!!! That six month bumper to bumper warranty Gary boasted so much about was not filed for 10 after we were driving the car.

The warranty he signed us up for and what he promised? Night and day!!! They would not cover it due to the fact we had not owned the car for 10 days or driven it 1500 miles!!! Pre-existing conditions were excluded and the work was not covered anyways? We took the car immediately back to Gary! Another 2.5 hours each way, to get there and see more of Gary's criminal mentality when he scoffed off Brakes plus for not lieing to the warranty company and said the guy was an idiot for loosing the pay check he could have had if he just lied and committed fraud with the warranty company! WTF??? Now add fraud to Gary's resume! He calmed us down and claimed the lack of return calls to the incompetence of his people not relaying the messages to him and he promised to have everything fixed and back to us after he ordered parts and got them installed. Only a couple of days, labor is just 4 hours to correct these issues are the words right out of his mouth. Foolishly we left the car with him thinking he would follow through with his obligations as a licensed used car dealer ensuring every car he sells to be deemed at least road worthy by the standards of Colorado regulations. Over 2 weeks later after a hundred calls messages and text once more I ventured the 5 hour trip once more to get ahold of this guy that never answered, never returned calls and always has aB.S. excuse or finger pointing at another for his lack of. This time I just happened to catch him in his office and got the number to his mechanic because I became very aware that any word out of this man's mouth is always 100% crap! Dealing with the mechanic: This process was just as long and stressed out but not because of the mechanic, they kept their word and were always available when I called even if there was no news.

Out of their control, they went through 2 used Racks that Gary purchase and told the mechanic not to say anything about the "used" fact but both of which were obviously defective installing and then right away tearing back out due to the fact they were just as bad as the one we originally had wasting man hours, labor and their schedule. This reason and only this was why the mechanic relayed this knowledge to us. They knew that we just bought this car a month ago and only drove it a couple days. They then ordered a new Rack and Pinon installed it and called us right away letting us know it was done and apologizing for the delay! Even though our car was in their shop for over a week, almost 2 weeks, she always communicated, let us know and showed sympathy for our lost time and work, which is why I am not mentioning them as they deserve 5 stars for effort, customer service and being human. Throughout this process our car has been in the shop 3 other times. 1) Brakes front and rear, including rotors all around($1500) 2) front end noise(tie rods and bushings) 3) sway link connectors that flew off while my wife was driving and turned the corner as front sway bar flexed enough to brake the links completely off due to rust and corrosion that was covered up by undercoating spray.

In Conclusion: Gary now is leaving text messages threatening and calling names. Doing so at 9pm on a Sunday which is breaking consumer protection laws listed out under collections, sub section stating that calls after a certain hour are not prohibited. He making said threats using slang and slurs that only leave me to believe that one of two things are occurring. 1) his education in proper English and or business etiquette are extremely lacking? Maybe just not there? Or 2) He's sitting in a bar somewhere drunk and inebriated, causing his logic, morals and or plain common sense is just to far out of reach for him to be fit to be licensed business anywhere let alone in an industry that this negligence can only lead to not only innocent people getting taken advantage of but possibly suffering injury and or death by one of the many vehicles he sells knowingly putting uninspected, unsafe and hazardous 2 ton machines in the unknowing hands of the consumers he lies too! I will be contacting D.O.R.A., STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL AND THE SECRETARY OF THE STATE. To file complaints with them in regards to the laws he is breaking and hand over any and all messages sent and the recording i just happened to take knowing i was stuck at his word verse mine if it came down to it.

There will also be a website going up in the next couple of days to search out and seek additional victims of his to join in on a class action suit against him to ensure no one has to suffer at the hands of this mindless, monster that I pray does not injure innocent people, pedestrians or families with the many possibilities and shear number of unsafe vehicles he Sales on a monthly basis that could have Brakes, suspension or loss of control issues that may lead to some young child, group of children or group of adults for that matter getting run over because either no safety inspection was done! Worse yet inspections were done and Gary decided to cover it up with undercoating body spray just so he could steal a couple bucks from families that can barely come up with there rent let alone thousands in repair bills at the false advertisement and or false promises of Gary Enos, Enos holdings llc or Alfred Auto!
