Algird Mameniskis Al, Dr. M Avoid this Butcher, Internet
First and foremost, Dr. Mameniskis will never update his new city on any of the online rating websites for doctors because if you google him in his previous city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania you will find nothing but negative reviews. I am 27 years old and due to a botched nose job from Dr. M, I now have to have another surgery to fix his work. This man should have his license revoked and should not be allowed to operate on anyone. I feel very sorry for all the people he has hurt, its been a very difficult experience for my family, friends and I to go through.
I urge you to do your research and seek out multiple doctors opinions before going under the knife. I am not alone with what Dr. Mameniskis has done to me, there are many women like me who have suffered due to their decision to work with him. Below is my story, you can email me at (((email redacted))) for photos but they are also online at www.flickr.com/avoidmameniskis.
I asked for the tip of my nose to be rounded off, for my nostrils to be even and my nose to be smaller. What I got from Dr. Mameniskis was uneven nostrils, much worse than my original nose, the tip of my nose to be flat one side and as pointy as a pencil on the other. I was told by the senior surgeon after doubting Dr. Mameniskiss work that what I had asked for may not even be possible as creating a round nose is very difficult. I was also told that I had to have the entire procedure redone as my cartilage points (tip of my nose) were out of place.
One cartilage point currently rests on the side of my nose while the other is in the center jutting out. I had also requested my deviated septum to be fixed. Instead after 3 months of healing I was told my septum was STILL deviated and that would also have to be fixed too. I cant breathe out of my left nostril due to a valve collapse (after an examination with a board reviewer this was his diagnosis). Dr. Mameniskis had suggested the removal of the bump on my nose and the thinning of my bridge.
Upon healing it was discovered that he did not shave down both sides equally and the bump is STILL there as well (on one side while the other has been scooped). The stitches that were placed in my nose were not stitched correctly which has created a bump that hangs over the right side of my nostril. In photos I literally look like my nose is detachable and the scar is clearly visible. When I went in to ask what happened he said it still needed healing but was hoping my nose would round off.
7 months later and I now have to have a revision on my nose to allow me to breathe and once again feel comfortable with myself. Choosing this surgeon was a mistake. One of the patients from a rhinoplasty (she sued him in 2009) surgery described her face as disfigured and butchered. I know the feeling! Despite his agreement to give me a free revision as he accepted the fact that there needed to be one, when I went in to ask for a refund I was told he had stated to the owner that, I dont know why shes so unhappy?!?. To say I was badgered by the owner is an understatement.
Not only was I badgered but I was also asked if I was on medication and what my highest level of education was? I still have no idea what either have to do with me being unhappy with my surgery to this day. When I requested my files, not only did I have to wait over the legal time frame of 3 months but when they arrived they were completely illegible and completely falsified. I couldnt make out one word of the notes from my visits to verify anything he had discussed with me.
When I got a second opinion for the senior surgeon above Dr. Mameniskis he stated that he did not agree with the method Dr. Mameniskis had for fixing my nose and he would also give me a free revision BUT only if Dr. Mameniskis was there to assist? Ive shared this with other surgeons and this hand holding is absolutely ridiculous. I was offered no guarantee that the man who botched my nose job the first time wouldnt be the one to give it another go. This is my face were talking about! The issues I am currently experiencing were not addressed and simply blamed on swelling or just simply ignored. The staff is beyond terrible.
Lillian and Tamar are the worst! Lillian, my patient consultant was never notified that I was having issues until almost 6-7 months after my surgery. When I asked her why I was recommended to Dr. Mameniskis, she simply told me to be careful. They will say anything to get you in there, discounts, whatever you want because its a chop shop! One of the things that still has my skin crawling is the mention of one of my tattoos. Dr. Mameniskis saw my tattoo apparently around the time of surgery, and let me tell you its nowhere near my face! Truthfully, I have no idea what he did for my face besides damage it. I was only able to find out what he did after the surgery from other board certified plastic surgeons.
If you are looking for a professional and experienced surgeon for your plastic surgery I highly suggest you go somewhere else!! Make sure to check out his ratings on ratemd.com, and review his cases online through the Philadelphia civil court system. No one wants to admit they have had a nose job, and certainly a bad one at that. However, if my review can stop at least one person from letting this happening to them at that hands of Algird (Al, or Dr. M) Mameniskis then it was all worth it!

I am writing this because I agree with the poster's original post...but then saw that she retracted what she said...not sure why.
I have to say, without going on and on and repeating what that poster said, that Dr. Mameniskis SUCKS and did something similar to my nose. I am still self-conscious about it thanks to him. He gave me tons of excuses as to my why my nose turned out the way it did and said there was scar tissue he would remove and meanwhile he injected steroids into one area of my nose that is uneven. I went to him for a second surgery to fix his screw-up. I'm still not happy. My profile is different yet again, looking at my head-on, my nose side tapers in more to one side, and the tip of my nose is still not smaller like I asked for. He screwed up my nose and I've talked to others who've had the same problem or a similar problem - it wasn't like we all healed in a bad way. He is a bad surgeon, plain and simple.
Avoid him at all costs, wherever he is currently practicing. He's horrible.
