Ali and Alicats Photography offers photography and video services for East Indian weddings in the Edmonton and Alberta regions.

Ali hired one of my photographers for a shoot in Edmonton in late 2008. He refused to pay her the agreed upon amount, stating that she didn't deserve it since he didn't like her style of photography. When she protested, he tore up the cheque he had written and threw it at her. He then proceeded to publicly debase and humiliate her in front of her co-workers and other customers who were in the store she works in.

She agreed to give him the photos, however, at his Japan Camera store in West Edmonton Mall. He didn't show up, instead leaving instructions to one of his employees to have her leave the master photo CDs there without payment. When she called him to refuse, he threatened her. He again denounced her as a photographer, although others praised her photos. He threatened with legal action if she didn't provide him with the photos, although he had refused to sign a contract prior to the shoot.

Ali is a dishonest businessman who has been known to hire immigrant photographers and paying them less than what they agree upon. In the end my photographer left him the master photos without payment because she feared any further dealings with him.

Alicats is Unprofessional

My family hired Alicats to DJ my sisters wedding and they acted like amateurs.
They acted like children by speaking badly about their competitors when we were pricing out their services. The guests at the wedding reception complained that the music they played was boring and no one was enjoying themselves. It wasn't until a family member from Vancouver came and took over DJing did the party start to liven up.

To top it all off, near the end of the party, Alicats did something that was completely unprofessional and uncalled for while at a wedding reception AND in public. Then when complications arose, They used unprofessional language to the bridal party rather than keeping the situation under control. COMPLETELY unprofessional

I hired Aiclat's in summer of 2009 for my wedding, which was Canadian. When we sat down with Ali, he showed us his albums but also showed us some of the photos other photographers took. We were pleased with Ali's work, but were shocked that other people would consider some of these other photographer's as professional's. I'm sure if Ali won't like the pictures, the customer's will too. If Ali hired one of your photographers, why didn't you deal with him in person instead of your photographer dealing with him? You should never do anything without a contract in first place. And where do you have the right to say he only hires immigrant photogrpahers? I have been to many weddings where Alicat's has been hired, either he is in attendace or one of his workers, which are all different types of ethnic culture. I personally think if you have an issue with Mr.Ali, take it up with him...don't need to write on here. I can assure you Ali is a very honest business man and people around this city love doing business with him.
