I ordered a used textbook through Alibris at Buy.com and paid for first-class priority shipment. It has been over three weeks and the book is still not here. I contacted them and they said it was up to US mail. That's funny, I told them because I ordered (4) used textbooks from (4) different used book merchants at Amazon and those books (shipped standard rate) are already here. And if it is at all relevant, so are my other more recent orders from Staples and Land's End. During December I ordered a used book from hayonwye books based in England and I should have learned my lesson: it took 6 weeks for it to arrive and the print quality (it was a reproduction) was secondrate. I now try to make it a point to check exactly which State the used book company is based at, but while that option is becoming widely used at Amazon.com, it isn't at Buy.com yet. However this isn't the first time I have ordered books from Alibris and they were slow in delivery. Even when I lived in California they were somewhat slow, like 2 weeks at least. Now I am really becoming irritated at the inconvenience of not having my textbook. I am willing to give them the benefit of just one more week because of the snow here, otherwise it's the end of all book purchases with them.
