Alienware REBATE RIPOFF Miami Florida
This is to warn anybody thinking they will get a rebate from Alienware.
My son purchased a $2100 system in November 2004 with the promise of a $500 rebate. I thought their 12 to 24 week turn around for their rebate was a bit long. I had no idea how long it would be. To get on with my warning It was coming up on 16 weeks since submission of the rebate and invoice. So I called to check the status of the rebate. Only to find the rebate had been voided by Alienware.
They said I had not submitted my invoice which made the rebate invalid. Even if I had not submitted the invoice which I did. We spent $2100 with this company. A e-mail,phone call or even snail mail to say I was getting ripped off would have not been to much to asked. Now I am a rebate fanatic I would not fail to follow the rebate instructions to the letter.
This is the status of my sons rebate to date ALIENWARE SAYS MY SON IS SOL!!!! FOR HIS $500. Because it is past the 45 day submission deadline. So if you are waiting on a rebate better follow up on it soon and often. They say once the rebate is voided you are SOL!!!!! I am going to exaust all channels before I let them get away with this fraud!!!!
Is there anyone else getting ripped off for the rebate promised by Alienware. Like I said above your rebate might have been voided. Do your self a favor and check. It might have disappered faster then the those strange lights in the sky over Area51!!!

I need to know if your issue has ever been resolved and by what means. Same goes to those that replied to this review. I too experienced the same issue. Does anyone know if a class action was ever pursued?

I did finall get my rebate two weeks ago for a system I purchased back in August. I did call customer service once for a follow up and was told it was recieved and in process and would get the $499 in a few weeks, that was in late December and I got the check late. Feb. I agree that it is a long time to process a rebate and Alienware could do better to speed up the process, but again I guess I was lucky and got it with no problems. I have had system problem since the purchase and it has been back to the shop 5 time since I got it, and I have had similar problems with tech support with this system and my laptop as well. Tech support is not fluid at fixing problems and it can be very frustrating to have to re-install software after they take it back. I have done in the past like other people have and even did like one person and wrote a letter about how to fix the problems which was ignored. Finally the PC is fixed and the laptop as well but not without talking to supervisors and the like and having techs to the house. I have had a lot of other computers over the years that were cheaper and did not have the problems and all the repairs that I have had on these new and "high end systems". When they run they run great, but they do go down harder than any type of system I have owned in the past.
