I called Affordable Towing at (720) 255-7666 to tow a pickup from about a mile E of e470 and I70 to my home on 80th and Simms in Arvada. He asked where the vehicle was that needed to be towed and then where it needed to be taken and I told him as I stated above. He asked if I knew how many miles that was, I told him about 20 (guestimate) He then said he was in the middle of a tow and if we called him back in and hour or so he would do it for $150.00. We called him back in an hour and he said he would head there at that time. About a half hour later he called me and asked when I would be there. I told him I did not know I was suppost to be there which is why I asked him if he would accept credit card when he got the truck to my house. He said he didn't know and it would be easier with a key but he would go ahead and get it towed for me.
About 5 minutes later he text me and said that it was over 30 miles, I replied by text with directions for the way I take (270 to 76 to i36 to Sheridan to 80th to simms). He replied GPS goes the shortest way. He was on his way with truck to my house.
He calls me when hes in front of my house with truck and I walk out, hand him credit card and he said, NO, your miles were a lie. its 34 miles so the price is $325 and now he has to have cash only. I told him I didn't know it was charged by the mile, I was just guessing. If I knew he was determining price by the mileage I told him I would have mapped it and made sure it was accurate. So I said I understand that it was more mileage and due to the lack of communication would he be willing to split the difference with me. He said NO, if you do not pay me in cash I am taking the truck back to where I got it. I told him I had no cash because he said he would take the credit card and there was only about $200 on credit card. He shook his head and stated again, cash in full or I take it back where I got it. (broken English, Spanish or?) I told him he was very unprofessional and unreasonable and he drove away.
5 minutes later he calls and says I am taking truck to my shop now, you get it when you pay tow amount plus tow to shop plus 25.00 per day its there. I am so frustrated and I think that it is now a civil matter and I do not have the ability to pursue it but something needs to be done, I am sure I am not the only one he does this too....
