When I purchased an antique cast iron book press from Eric Holover for $100 many months ago on a popular auction website, the terms were that I was to pick it up myself at his shop in New Jersey. I telephoned Eric many, many times to arrange a day and time for the pickup.
Every time I called him, Eric gave me an excuse why I couldn't come to get my purchase. Either the weather did not permit him to bring it home from his shop, his truck was full, or (most commonly,) his bad back prevented him from lifting into his truck. Numerous times he told me he would be out of town. There were other excuses as well.
Unfortunately, it took me quite a while to realize that Eric Holover never intended to fulfill his part of the bargain. Finally, when I offered to come out and load it up myself, he told me I would have to pay an additional $20 in order to pick up my purchase!
Do not trust Eric Holover or All Antiques Purchased - otherwise he will likely take your money and leave you empty-handed, after making your life miserable in the process. Save yourself the trouble and find an honest antique dealer.
