While on vacation I brought my phone to All Mobile Matters in Tempe, AZ  to have the charger port replaced. Lindsay K. checked the phone for various functions and discovered that the ear speaker wasn't working. I thought that was odd; after all, I hadn't noticed a problem with it (at least I thought so at the time). She  speculated that water was the culprit, even though I had not exposed the phone to water.

The repair was delayed a day and I had to call them for an update. I was told that the charge port had been replaced and the ear speaker was now working, but that the microphones had failed, basically rendering the phone useless. There was nothing I could do about that and would have to be content that the charge port had been replaced, which I was assured had been the case.

A day later I was informed that the charge port had been replaced. I paid the bill and left. It wasn't until later that evening that I discovered that the problem had not been rectified.

A day after flying home to New York I spoke again to Lindsay K. who denied that the repair had not been made. She offered to send a pre-paid mailer to ship the phone back to them. While I didn't find that acceptable, I was willing to do so if, once they examined the phone, they would admit that it hadn't been repaired. Rather than answer that question, Lindsay became increasingly argumentative and eventually hung up on me.

A week later I had the phone repaired at a repair facility near my residence. The technician confirmed that the repair had not been made.

For further clarification:

Lindsay claimed that the charger port was not working when I brought the phone in. This is patently false. It worked, but not consistently. I knew it was only going to get worse and thought I would have it repaired while I was on vacation.

Lindsay claimed that the phone had water damage. However, I did not subject the phone to water and no evidence of corrosion was detected by the subsequent technician who repaired the phone.

When I picked up the phone from All Mobile Matters I assumed that it had been repaired. The store was closed for business by the time I discovered the problem and I was scheduled to fly home the next morning.

The bottom line is that I paid for a repair that was not made. To make matters worse, All Mobile Matters was exceedingly unprofessional in addressing the problem. Caveat emptor!
