I contacted All United VanLine for a moving quote from Fort Collins, CO to Metairie, LA.  I was given a binding quote for 19,000#.  The movers arrived at 1530, on the day of the move with 3 movers and a 24'truck rather than 6 movers and a semi truck.  The foreman immediately told us we had to re-negoitiate the contract as we had underestimated our weight.  Since the new term (3 times the initial estimate) were not acceptable, we made arrangements to get a truck and move about 5000-7000# of boxes.
The foreman also wanted us to pay 100-200$ extra for each piece of furniture that had to be "crated" so as not to break.  Wrapping the furniture had been part of the original estimate.
When they left that night, they told us they would finish the move by 1200 the next day.  When they hadn't arrived by 1400, despite multiple calls, we made other arrangements.  When they finally returned our call, they said they would charge 1 1/2 x for the stuff they had moved since it wasn't the complete amount.  Therefore even though they failed to move our belongings as agreed, they wanted us to pay more money than the initial estimate!!
Over the course of the next week, we tried communicating with them multiple times to seek an amicable agreement.  Despite requests for tariffs and weight contracts by phone and email, we never received them.  When we asked that the belongings be turned over to us and we pay for the costs incurred, we were denied.
The new estimate even includes $1000 for moving materials that they abandoned at our house!
