Allcare Dental and Dentures nationwide scam, out of business, ignore patients Knoxville, Tennessee

Icame to Allcare Dental and Dentures in September 2010 to get two new crowns and one filling replaced. When I had to decide whether to stay with them, I was told the whole treatment wouldn't take more than 3 weeks. They gave me a discount and set up a payment plan for the whole treatment.

They did my filling, but then troubles began. They rescheduled my crown appointment because their doctor was sick, then because he got in an accident, and then again for some other reason. Every time they would put my appointment 2 or 3 weeks ahead. As I found out later, their doctor only works two days a week. Finally they saw me 2 months after the initial exam, on November 16. They put the temporary crowns and promised to have permanent ones for me three weeks later. The temporary crowns were bad, one of them would come out all the time and I couldnt eat anything other than soups. I came in several times for fixing, but they would just cement it back. It would come off the very next day. I learned to place it back myself and was eagerly waiting for my appointment on December 20 to finally get this nightmare over with.

Then I received a call about another rescheduling, because they decided to close for holidays earlier. I tried to argue, I told them they couldn't just cancel on me so many times, but they wouldnt listen.

I came in this morning (January 3rd, 2011) for my appointment and saw locked doors and a note. I found out that they went out of business and won't be reopening again. Apparently they just closed offices throughout the country, completely ignoring the patients. All the phones are down, and there is nobody available to talk to. Poor employees, I feel sorry for them, they lost their jobs so unexpectedly. So, I am now stuck with these horrible temporary crowns that also hurt my mouth since theyre too sharp, I am paying for the service that they did not finish rendering, and I cant even ask them for my records or refund.

Citihealth, the financing company that they set up my payments with, didnt know about their closing and promised today (January 3, 2011) to look into the matter and send me a reply letter. I am hoping they wont make me pay it all. I need to go to a different dentist now and pay for initial exam all over again plus whatever the two crowns will cost me, out of my own pocket, which is a lot of money, considering that Im an international student and have no money.

I also saw other patients that came in this morning for their appointments, they were completely unaware of their nationwide closing and were also very upset. One of them had paid cash for his dentures, but did not receive them. The other one had his dentures placed, but they didnt fit correctly. A lot of customers are in the middle of their treatment that they had already paid for.

I really need some help on how to proceed from here, since Im not very familiar with the way things work in these cases. I had never been through anything like this before. I did not even know it was possible, to be ripped off like this by an established company.

I will greatly appreciate any guidance

Thank you in advance.

I know how frustrated you must be, I had the unfortunate task of calling you and many, many, many other patients to reschedule those appointments. I hope you know that none of us in the office knew what the company was doing. They gave us all a layoff on Dec 17th with only a few hours warning, then they called us on New Years Eve, my call came at 9:30 pm, to tell us we were terminated and our insurance benefits would be canceled as of midnight. They could have at least allowed us into the offices on Monday to call our patients and arrange for treatment to be completed. I am so very frustrated, not just because I am out of a job, but because so many people have already paid for treatment that they will not be honoring. I wish there were more I could do. I am sure you remember who I am, I sat at the front and made all your appointments. I have thought about you over the past few weeks, and was especially concerned about your temps. I know you were out of the country and all I was able to do was leave you a message that day. Again, please know that the staff wishes nothing less than that we had been given the opportunity to complete your treatment for you. The Company should be ashamed of themselves, and I hope the owners are prosecuted to the extent of the law.
