I recently contacted PG&E, my local utiility, to arrange moving to a new address.  As many others have reported, at the end of this action PG&E transferred me to "AllConnect" in order to "confirm" my change order.  When the AllConnect agent came on the line, they offered to move and/or arrange other services for me.

The AllConnect representative offered me 105Mbps internet through Comcast for $45/month and I agreed to the deal.  However, when the technician showed up to install the internet connection he indicated that the maximum speed I would receive is 25Mbps and he put this in writing.  The only way to get the 105Mbps which AllConnect promised was to get a business internet service and that cost $200/month.  The installer said "they always do this and leave it to the installers to tell you what you can really get".

I contacted AllConnect and was told my case would be connected to an "agent".  This did happen and the agent reviewed the phone call between me and the original sales person (they record the calls as well as the computer screens the sales person went through while processing the order).   The agent confirmed that the sales person had sold me 105Mbps for $44.99 per month.  The agent then explained that Comcast delivers "up to" 105Mbps in some areas but "up to" 50Mbps in other areas; she said that what I had was 50Mbps.  Ignoring for a moment the fact that 50Mbps is not what I purchased, I pointed out that the installer himself on the install ticket wrote the service down as 25Mbps.  Not only was I not receiving the 105Mbps I was sold, I was also not receiving the 50Mbps that AllConnect insisted I had but which the installer told me was not available..  When I tested the actual connection, it came back as 22Mbps.

Just to summarize, All Connect sold me 105Mbps service, they claim I have 50Mbps service, the installer said I have 25Mbps service, what I really have is 22Mbps.  Both the internet packages All Connect talks about (105Mbps and 50Mbps) do not exist, at least for me.  The Comcast installers comments are deeply troubling here; according to him there is no 105Mbps or 50Mbps even available; he said there might be 50Mbps "later this year".  So All Connect appears to be selling things that don't exist and PG&E is feeding them customers.

I am also out $72 for a cable modem that I can't use because the service I bought it for doesn't even exist.  But, I can't even sue them in Small Claims Court because they aren't in my State.  Seems to me like they have a pretty slick little business hiding in Georgia and scamming people in other States.

Stay away from these guys; in my opinion they are crooks.
