Rep from Alliance One contacted my spouse at 8:15 a.m. and asked for my minor child while he was at school. Rep would not give company name or reason for call, only told my concerned wife that this was a "legal" matter. We didn't know if it was sexual predator, identify theft. Several calls to Watts line number were not returned promptly.

Further investigation revealed name of company and purpose of call was to collect a debt from a person not my son, who is 33, not 14 and at least used to live in the area. Company later called me back and informed me that this was the phone number last used by the debtor 30 months ago.

Doubtful that both last name and supposedly reassigned phone number would have been the same. Likelihood is that they took local phone book and called all the parties with the same last name in a "scorched earth" attempt to locate debtor. Complaint lodged with FCC Consumer Response Center.
