managing agent for The Current in Long Beach produced a fake invoice and tried to collect after moving out of our apartment.  When their fraud was exposed they sold the bogus debt to a collection agency with no notice.  Here is an email that was never resolved:

Hello again Dema,

Please can you advise on the request in my previous email?

Further to this, the invoice that you provided did not look professional or authentic so we contacted the number included on the document.  Rene Guasso Painting confirmed that they have not carried out any painting or cleaning work on the fourteenth floor of our former building since we moved out.

Please provide an explanation as to where this invoice came from.  Please be aware that your previous message claimed this fee was for professional cleaning and painting to our former unit which has now been denied by the vendor that was claimed to have performed the work.  This is highly suspicious and unacceptable, possibly fraud and definitely untruthful.

At a minimum, I expect my full security deposit returned.  Please confirm or provide the invoice for the professional cleaning prior to our move in and an explanation for the bogus fees being claimed.

I look forward to your response.
