Allied Home Warranty Home Warranty Scam/Ripoff Arlington Texas
Allied wants $5000+ when the repair costs less than $500.
AC Not working - started sending in hot air. Called Allied on 6/18. They sent a technician on 6/19. From beginning he was interested in charging more - did not check basic things - quoting fuse blown up and other electrical issues, he was interested in doing a leak detection which was not covered in warranty and wanted $199. Finally after collecting $259 ($199 for leak test and $60 trip fee) - provided us a quote for $5000 (RUUD brand) to replace condenser and coil on System, $3600 (for noname brand) - this is out of pocket, on top of this he was to collect some money from Allied. I wanted to take second opinion and did not agree for the recommended repairs.
Called another vendor (One hour Air conditioning and Heating) - according to their technician - whoever had touched the system before tried to sabotage or did not know what they were doing. Electrical contacts were left loose - that could cause sparks and fires. One hour fixed the problem by changing capacitor and filling up freon gas - the total cost was less than $500.
Looks like there are three companies but they are one - Warranty is with Allied, their vendor is Lone start repair and the technician is from NRG Home services.I called NRG home services and the call went to Allied Directly - Looks like Allied, Lone star repair and NRG is same company with different names.

This was taken directly from the Allied Home Warranty website:
"...the owner of Allied is also the owner of NRG Home Services."

Allied/NRG are surely making a killing with this cozy little arragement. This is shady at best!
